Way too old IMO......Kids 19 years old are champions, or have had 300 amateur wins by now. Fun, recreation boxing, but no pro career . For every pro making big bucks, there are thousands fighting out of high school gyms for $750-$1500.
Depends on your background and your natural skill. Period.
Person "A" starts at age 25 to become a pro boxer---Was in and out of boxing gyms every few years between the ages of 14-22. You have never lost a street fight and have had over 30 of them. Person A is a natural fighter/boxer exhibiting natural reflexes, natural hand speed, natural left jab, natural right hand power and has great foot coordination. Person A is always in shape. Person A has boxing in his blood, or his uncle was a great boxer. Person A has competed in physical sports before and has trained like an animal at least 5 days a week or longer for at least a year straight.
Person "B" starts boxing at age 25 to become a pro boxer--Has never boxed before or stepped foot in a boxing gym. He's not really a great athlete. Person B is a boxing fan who decided to start boxing because of watching Mayweather (see guys like this in gym every week, and 99% last 2 weeks). Never played sports before. Hasn't been into a fight since he was 7 years old on the playground. Never competed in physical sports. Person B doesn't have a natural sense for boxing and is not a fast learner when learning technique. Longest Person B has ever trained for anything was going to the batting cages for baseball four times a week for 3 months.
Who do you think has a better chance at being halfway successful as a pro? Person A or Person B. Figure out if you fall into the A category or the B category. If you are somewhere in between, you may as well be in the B category. You have to be 100% in the A category to have a chance. I have seen Person "A" succeed in boxing, never person "B."
If you just start training at 25 it is most likely too old but it depends on how fit you have been before that and whether you did any other exercise or sports, also if you are already very knowledgeable about boxing style, technique etc. It is too late to become a world champion but you could definitely become a journeyman if you put your all into it.
No its never too old as long you're in shape enough to box!! (: look at Benards Hopkins, he's 48 years old and can still box. Sergio Martinez went pro at age 22 and has a good record, 51 wins and 2 lose. So go ahead and box and show 'em that its never too late to box! :D
no carlos maussa turned pro at 27 became world champ
brian carden at 28 fought at madisonsqaure garden
Yes too old.
My dream is to box pro I started boxing 2 months ago. I'm very dedicated and passionate. I started late because I was never able to do it before
