That talk show clip was great. It shows a rare display of humility from both Ali and Tyson.
I think the most important point here is: Ali was the master of psychological warfare and Tyson was an extremely sensitive being who some opponents were able to take out of his game plan and make him freak out (Holyfield as the classic example). Ali would probably do so as well.
By the way also just looking at skill I don′t think Tyson - even in his young age - would be able to beat Ali in his prime (1966/67). He would search for "the greatest" in the ring and not find him.
Watch the fight between young Tyson and James "Quick" Tillis. They went the distance. Tillis lost clearly, but during the fight you could recognize that Tyson had some problems with dealing the unusual movements and good footwork Tillis had to offer. Now Alis skillset was in a totally different sphere to Tillis′.
Kind regards from germany:)
i think if they had a series of fights, tyson would win the first. just like frazier beat ali the first time with his constant head movement, making it hard for ali to land a punch. tyson is obviously much faster than frazier and has that ruthless aggression that you can't teach. he also has power in both hands. i think in the second fight between ali and tyson, ali would have used his great boxing brain to adapt to tysons style and beat him. tyson was a wonderful fighter in his prime, but he only had 1 style, which was; go forward and destroy. i think ali would win the final fight between the 2.
If Ali's shadow fell on Tyson it would crush Mike to death, this one isn't even close Ali would dominate Mike and knock out Tyson faster than Holyfield did.
Ali admits Tyson would win even watch this of them on the same talk show
i often think about how cool it would be to see these 2 fight in their prime..take the Ali of like 1967 and the Tyson of like 1988..how do you think the fight would go and who would end up winning?
