I was an "All-State" High School Basketball Player when I was in High School, several years ago, and have not played or practiced, probably, since I finished college. But I cannot expect to jump into an NBA game, and even half-way keep up with them.
That's basically what you're down and upset about. And you shouldn't be.
If I told you that I averaged over 30 points a game when I played high school basketball, but I haven't picked up a ball in a few years. What would you think if I said that I was down & upset because I lost in a 1-on-1 game against an NBA ball player? You would most likely say "No Sh**!".
So, if it's silly to think someone who hasn't played or practiced basketball in several years can keep up with NBA players, why would you think it makes sense that someone who hasn't trained to box in a while could win a sparring session with a professional boxer?
There is absolutely no reason to be down. If you would have won, then I would have questioned the talent of the "pro" you sparred. Most professional boxers literally box for a living. They train year-round so they will be ready, at any time, to fight to make a living. The highest 2 paid athletes in 2012 were both boxers. #2 was Manny Pacquiao, making $62 Million & #1 was Floyd Mayweather, Jr., making $85 Million, and he only fought 1 bout! If boxing was easy, everyone would be doing it. So you can't expect to simply jump back into the most difficult sport in the world, and be the best. You must start training again. And after you feel ready, then try to spar against another boxer at your talent level.
Hope this helps!
Good Luck and don't give up!
Well.... I didn't see none of the matches... Was your cousin holding out on you the first times? Maybe. If not. Well then somethings the matter with you. No biggy. It happens more than you probably think... So maybe you were tired, maybe you just didn't care... or maybe you weren't afraid? You gotta know.
Here's the thing about it. You didn't do good. Get your mind there. Visualize your self there again, and now look for how he was able to take advantage. If you can see in your mind, see, see how to counter what he has on you, then you'll be able to counter him in the ring. Be what your mind see's you as. Get it?
Remember, he's a pro. Actually your not even allowed to spar together.
You just had a bad sparring session. It's not the end of the world. Just rest up and learn from your mistakes.
It's not a big deal,it's just a bad day at sparring.second time, be prepared and do not go sparring work when you're not ready
dude, its sparring. who gives a s***? everyone gets beaten up in sparring at some point. remember, boxers aren't born, they're made so keep at it. your jab is the most powerful weapon. learn to use it in attack and defense. also, have a few combinations to mix it up like jab, jab cross and lead hand hook, cross
Nothing to get down about you said your said that you had not been in the gym. You can not become good at anything in one session . Just get back in there and learn how to fight.
Hey, we'll iv been doing boxing for a very long time and only just started sparring I trained at a amateur gym for a while and sparred with them, but something happened and I stopped training there anyway I moved back with my old trainer but the thing is he trains at a pro gym so I do 3minutes a round, anyways I haven't sparred in a long time so I went back in with my cusion, he is a pro, I sparred him about 3 times I did we'll, but I went in with him tonight and I got demolished! He popped my nose and everything it was pissing with blood, my body just didnt seem to want to move I can't seem to spar like I did the last times, I just feel really down and upset that this happened, that can I do?
