Howard Davis Jr. 1982 VS Pernell Whitaker 1990?

Howard Davis was a highly touted pro prospect and Olympic Champion and many rated him even higher than Sugar Ray Leonard and a can't miss fighter as he possessed that tremendous hand speed and agility in the ring. But there as you well know a huge difference between amateurs and professional and Davis never lived up to those lofty expectation though he was a very good fighter. Pernell Whitaker is easily one of the greatest defensive fighters in history and defeated some truly outstanding fighters in his career. The man coul stand right in front of you in the ring and you still couldn't hit him! I believe that Whitaker would take this fight though it wouldn't be that one sided because of Davis's hand speed.

Whitaker W15 UD

I'm with Toughguy on this one.Davis Jr. was definitely the faster fighter, but Pernell's defense would give Howard fits.If Howard had that Ray Leonard killer instinct within him, I would say he could edge this one, but Pernell is a true talent, and definitel Hall of Famer who proved it in the ring, while Howard, unfortunately, dissappointed in it.Pernell wins over Howard in a 15 rounder.

Whitaker by TKO. By the way, he won the Dela Hoya fight in my mind.

davis never lived up to his hype. whitaker would win this one by whitewash.
