BQ2- Do you think he was the most feared boxer in his prime at that time?
Margarito was a very tough, tenacious, albeit limited fighter. He gave a lot of great fights. Unfortunately, the loaded wrap issue has tainted his legacy forever. There are people who have used banned substances whose legacy will not be harmed by as much as Margarito's will be because even though substances were used to help with recovery and muscle growth or to cut weight, they aren't considered to be dangerous the the opponent. Margarito was attempting to go into a professional fight with a hardened substance in his hand to multiply the force of his punches. That could have seriously injured, if not killed his opponent. The problem is made worse by thinking that if he tried to do it that time, he must have tried to do it other times and he was only caught the one time. His victory over Cotto is therefore suspicious. It was s very stupid and damaging thing to do.
Margarito was indeed one of the most avoided fighters in his prime. It is hard to quantify that, but he would be in the top 5 avoided fighters for the years he was at the top of his craft.
That the guy with the lucky horse shoe in his glove.......????
History will not be kind to Margarito... One fight, one scandal, one reputation blown for all eternity.
A dirt bag cheater...........putting another fighter's life or career in danger and knowing about it before being caught.
Cosign Eddie F.
