How to take punches like a boxer?

When ever I box with my friends if they hit hard I give up. How do I take There punches I want to be a good fighter but this is really screwing up my chances

I’d hold you up to say to your mother, “This kid’s gonna be the best kid in the world. This kid’s gonna be somebody better than anybody I ever knew.” And you grew up good and wonderful. It was great just watching you, every day was like a privilege. Then the time come for you to be your own man and take on the world, and you did. But somewhere along the line, you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you’re no good. And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow.

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!

This is one of the most common misconceptions about boxing. The Sweet Science of Boxing is not just hitting your opponent, or hitting your opponent hard. The fundamentals of boxing defense is, after "stance" and "footwork", the first thing you are taught (basically, defense is usually taught before offense). Stance is the very first thing you will learn because everything you do, footwork, defense, offense, etc., is based on a fundamentally sound boxing stance. Then after learning how to properly move (footwork), you are taught how to defend a punch. Think about it, you can be a strong puncher, but if you can't land your punches, and you are constantly getting hit, your power is null, or useless.

So I recommend that you watch some legitimate videos on boxing fundamentals to help you better understand this. I stress "legitimate" because there are a lot of people out there with a webcam and access to youtube, yet have no idea how to properly box.

Title Boxing makes some pretty good videos that you can find for free on the Internet, esp. those by Russ Anbar &/or Freddie Roach.

Check them out and I think you'll learn a lot.

Good luck!!

Having strong abbs is part of it, the rest is just being able to take a hit. The more you get hit, the more you can take

well your kind of born with a good chin, um maybe just box with ppl your own size & weight
