Hardest part about beginning to box is walking into a gym for the first time. Talk to the coach, tell him you're really green and you're looking to compete in the future. All coaches want to have fighters that compete in their gym, and they wont put you into a ring unless they think you have a good chance. Show up at least 3 times a week, do exactly what he says, and you'll be fine. Good luck, this is the oldest and best sport in the world.

Join your local boxing club, they'll steer you in the right direction.
I am 16, and started working out about a month ago. I've always been into boxing, but I live in super rural environment. How can I get into boxing beyond sparring with friends? Do I need a license? Does anyone know where to go in Western NC, USA for bouts?
