Honestly what you need to focus on the most is conditioning.. Run a lot long and far you'll need that cardio and stamina advantage for lasting longer in the ring. Work on perfecting those combos with a mitt specialist, and do some heavy bag, speed bag, and jump roping. If there is one thing I've learned in my armature boxing career it's that the guy who can last the longest in the end, almost always wins. Just because he comes out hot headed or with the advantage in the first couple rounds dosnt mean anything. Lasting longer in the later rounds will help you endure the late and early shots better than him. As far as being on the defense vs offense against a person that has more reach against you, I'd work on defense for the first couple of rounds while throwing the locational hooks and jabs to break up his guard. If he comes at you hard and or fast, remember the jab is mostly used to help you get out as an escape and will keep him back a bit. Watch what you eat and drink as well.water
You gotta get inside and attack the body. Bring the fight to him and because most likely he'll be trying to keep you on the outside if he's smart. Cut off the ring to make sure he can't dance around the ring. Look at some Golovkin fights he is a master at charging people and cutting off the ring.
As for the fitness side you will probably get better answers somewhere else but running on the trendmill should be good try to run the most you can and build up your distance. For the hitting bags use the normal boxing intervals for practicing. So like go 4 or whatever rounds on the heavy bag then switch
Your should get an experienced trainer, adopt top-notch training program and follow an ideal boxing diet.
The result is that you'll be at your ideal fighting weight.

I have an upcoming boxing match against a friend of mine to settle an argument we've had for a few years. I'm 5'6" 185 lbs. He's 5'11" 165 lb. The fight is in 3 months, and we're meeting at 170 lbs. Losing the weight isn't my problem. I just don't know how to approach the fight. Since he's 5 inches taller than me, it's safe to assume he has a reach advantage. I also know that i am much stronger than him and our speed is about the same. So how should I fight in this match like my style, aggressive or not? and stuff like that.
Also, what type of cardio should i do? I have full gym access to everything from treadmills, to weights, to tractor tires, to heavy bags, and speed bags.
I don't have much experience fighting and neither does he. I've only been in a few street fights that ended quickly. I'm not sure if hes ever been in one.
