I don't think Guerrero will try to bully Floyd. Instead of trying to push Floyd to the ropes and rough him up like pretty much everyone else has tried and failed to do since the first Castillo fight, I think Guerrero will try to box a little bit and show some angles of his own.
Floyd would love for Guerrero to give up his lateral movement and try to pin him on the ropes.Floyd won't lose a game of tag when backed against a wall like that. Guerrero has to know this just as well as anyone else on the outside looking in. That tactic worked against Berto, but needless to say, Mayweather is not Berto, and his defensive capabilities are in another dimension.
Guerrero talks about Floyd's legs being shot. I don't think he'd even bring that up if he weren't going to try to take advantage of that. He can't take advantage of that by giving up his own wheels in order to play the role of the bully. At least not the entire fight. He'll have to mix things up and try to keep Floyd on his toes a bit. He can't fall into any sort of pattern or become predictable. That's when Floyd starts to potshot you to death.
I could be wrong, but someone's got to try something different eventually because that plan of action (bully tactics) just doesn't seem to work very well.
I was reading something awhile back, I think from the Bleacher report, but I am not certain. It discussed Mayweather's style and contended that contrary to popular belief, Mayweather was an inside fighter who could fight outside when he wanted to. The author talked about Mayweather's "veteran" aka dirty tactics that other fighters also use. He said that Mayweather's Philly Shell defense lends itself well to using his elbows as weapons. Ortiz complained about the a lot and said that it was partly the reason he tried to head butt Floyd. Others have also noted it. Floyd also likes to pull his opponents arms in and lean on them with his head when they are inside. He puts his body weight on them to tire them out. He also rubs his head in their face. I think that he will be prepared for the rough housing. His corner is usually pretty good at working the referees to keep the fight on Mayweather's terms like they did during the Hatton fight. Whenever Hatton wanted to go in to try and smother some of Mayweather's punches and do some mauling on the inside, the referee separated them and made Hatton have to work his way inside all over again. I suppose that will be the case with Guerrero as well.
Mayweather has done really good against boxers who try to fight close, so I doubt that Guerrero will be much new to the table. Berto isn't much of a fighter in comparison to Mayweather. He shouldn't have gotten the fight.
berto doesnt move like floyd, berto dont have the speed of floyd, berto doesnt have the brain like floyd....
berto and guerrero aint even in floyd's league...
guerrero tho has the stamina and volume punching, he doesnt have a power punch and the experience
guerrero is another non-strong champ floyd promised to fight before he retires next year
Uppercuts on the inside and foot movement plus Mayweather can play a little dirty when blocking with his elbows but that is how he will beat Guerrero.
