Even Ali once said after their computer fight that despite the fact that they were only sparring, Ali couldn't lift his arms for a week. Also refer to an interview with Howard Cossel which you can find on YouTube, when Ali was asked how he would fare against Marciano, he said in all serious, that he didn't know, not being his usual boasting self. After the Foreman fight, Ali said he would never have employed the rope-a-dope on Marciano because unlike George, Marciano would have known how to bring his arms down. Most of you armchair boxers never stepped in the ring and actually fought anyone, and you think you know what's really going on just by watching. For you guys who swear that these big modern fighters would beat the old fighters, I would disagree, because most of today's heavyweights fight less rounds than old boxers, fights are stopped a lot faster (Marciano fought and ko'd his opponent with half his nose hanging off his face, and had it been today it would have been stopped right away)and most of these big guys wear out by 5 rounds, whereas Marciano's stamina and heart is legendary. The truth is, it's totally pointless to speculate about who would beat who in what era, because the fights never happened. Those who are so sure of what an outcome would be really don;t know, just based on your own opinions and biases.
Marciano was a puncher, but was only testing it against old men either retired coming back heavyweights of light heavyweights in the division at that time. Not sure he's do as well in the other years, with a prime Louis, Dempsey, Liston per say.
Tyson wasn't really that "one punch knockout fighter" it took him about 4 to 8 combinations body and head to get rid of his opponents. Joe Louis had impeccable power that's why he kept that heavyweight title almost throughout his whole career and dominated that division in his Era. Marciano has power but he hasn't been tested yet he fought a Joe Louis does that was going into retirement and KO'ed him but if it was in their primes Joe would pretty much destroy Marciano's chin. Rocky Marciano power is a little bit overrated but yes he was quite a power puncher.
Great for his size, and weight. Someone above me said Rocky punched harder than Mike Tyson that is a lie not even in the same ball park.
he was a small heavyweight but apparently he hit guys so hard that he bust blood vessels in there arms did he hit as hard as tyson did for instance? and i think a fighter that both fought louis and marciano said marciano hit harder
