Ward needs to move up to Light Heavy now, there's no one left at 168, Froch is the only person left who wants to fight him but that's old news now, Froch got comfortably dispatched last time but perhaps Ward should fight him again now as Froch is also world champion and it would be a winner takes all fight with the loser (Froch) free to retire and the winner (Ward) can then move up to 175 and force the likes of Stevenson and Hopkins to worry about him because Ward would beat them both, I'm quite sure of that.
What money is there in froch ward 2? Ward will easily school him again, not even close. Plus froch is ducking a deserved and high demanded rematch with George groves.
Put simply, ward is a boring fighter in many people's eyes. His career has been very quiet lately, largely no fault of his own. But he also lacks that sellable persona and charisma so his fights don't sell either.
Nobody wants to fight Ward because there is no money in fighting him. He wants everything on his terms and doesn't like fighting outside of Oakland. Nobody is going to fight him in Oakland because the ref just lets him do whatever dirty tactics he wants. Just ask Kessler. Ward headbutted him 5 times in the fight which resulted in Kessler suffering from blurred vision and losing 2 years of his career. Anywhere else in the world, Ward would have been disqualified in that fight.
Until Ward is willing to travel, I don't think he'll make the money his ability deserves because nobody is going to come to his back yard.
Great answer from Andrew and the guys above.
How do you think Andre Ward must feel?
He must have felt cheated. Man, Im undfeated too.what do i do? That probably was what always in his mind. HE fought the best, he beat them and STILL he never get the attention he thought he deserved. Well not unless there's Floyd and MAnny, he'll never be the MAN
Andre Ward is the number 2 rated pound for pound fighter yet the public seems to have no interest in the top fighters from 160-175 fighting him. At 160 everybody wants to see GGG vs. Martinez or Martinez vs. Cotto (If Cotto decides to take the fight). At 175 everybody wants to see Stevenson vs. Kovalev, Stevenson even mentioned interest in fighting Carl Froch or Hopkins, but didn't mention Ward in his post fight interview after defeating Bellew last week. There has been some talk about Ward possibly fighting these guys in the near future, but there has been far more talk about the fights I mentioned above. Shouldn't Ward be offended that he has reognition as the best fighter in the world not named Floyd Mayweather, yet nobody seems to be gunning for him? He said he's going to wait for someone to step up and challenge him, but who is going to step up to the plate if the best fighters in or near his division haven't? If he doesn't fight any of these men in the near future his pound for pound rating certainly has to come into question. What do you think?
