How do you dodge a punch to the body?

I'm going to fight a 2 time national champion and I've heard that he focuses on the body instead of the face. Any idea on how I could counter?

you cant all you can do is block it and if you do get hit to the body stepping back will decrease the force of the blow

Your going to fight an extremely high-level fighter and you actualy ask if you can dodge a body punch? You must be trolling or very lucky to have scored the fight... Or nervous as hell ;)

Anyways, you don't dodge a body punch, you obviously don't move the body the same way you can move hear and shoulders to dodge head punches. You MUST use foot-movement to make it hard for him to catch you. Like some guy said, he will probably wanna get close to you, corner you, make your movement hard so that he can make his punches easier to land. If he punches the body, use your elbows to block then inmediately counter. As soon as he makes impact on your elbow, punch then get out of his range. Whatever happens, don't get involved in exchanges. He will obviously target your body and if your hands are busy swinging, your gonna get hit.

To my knowledge, you can't dodge a punch to the body, you have to block and counter a body puncher or just trade body shot for body shot with them until you break their spirit. Either way it's a rough way to fight and you had better come in shape, a good body puncher can sap your strength a lot faster than a head hunter. You can try to KO the guy but your gonna pay a painful price.

the best thing to do is not let him get on the inside, i bet he will be looking to corner you, so stay away and dont exchange punches or he will hurt you, and the other thing you can do is roll his punch away, if you dont know what that is its just as simple as blocking and when his fist hits your block roll with the punch to reduce damage, i would think you should know all this if you are going to fight a national champion (im just saying)
