Floyd is really among the best fighters ever.
Any one that discredits Floyd for things like fighting guys a catch weights or not fighting certain opponents are just haters not looking at the bigger picture and the facts about this no doubt all time great and one of the best if not the single best defensive fighters off all time.
To me Floyd is the greatest fighter to refuse a particular fight.

i used to think Floyd did not belong up there with Leonard, Hearns, Duran but i'm not so sure now. His defense might be better than a prime Wilfred Benitez, plus Floyd is stronger than he looks.

Floyd Mayweather is not the greatest fighter that has ever lived ,in fact he is not the greatest fighter ever in his weight class. This is not a put down on Floyd Jr.it's a fact. So where does Floyd fit into the all time greats, and who is Floyd as a fighter? First let's look at Jr. from a fighters stand point. Floyd's father, who is also his trainer along with his uncles were really good fighters. So Jr. was born to be a fighter. We know as an amateur Floyd was on the 1996 US olympic boxing team and won a bronze medal . Floyd was the best fighter on that team and a lot of people felt that he was robbed of a chance to fight for the gold medal me included I was at the games in Atlanta. With a great amature back ground and a solid team behind him Jr. turned pro amassing a 45-0 record. Floyd has fought and beat everyone put in front of him, he has never ducked anyone regardless of what some people might say. Mayweather is a very tallented fighter he has been on top for 17 years and is now 36 years old. Floyd is the face of boxing and he is getting paid like it . But what is it about Floyd that makes him so much better than everyone else? First thing you have realize is Floyd is a real fighter he was put in tough from day one . The second thing which I think is Floyd's strongest asset is his ability to adapt to any style of fighter put in front of him. In every fight Floyd has been in, after the first round the fight belonged to Floyd. Mayweather has a lot of great attrabutes 1. He is a lot stronger than anyone gives him credit for.2.great reflexes,and quickness.3. Great vision,and anticipation.4. The ability to take a great shot and fight back.5 Floyd is also a very sharp puncher. Now for the intangables Floyd does not drink or smoke,or do drugs. Floyd has never gone into a fight out of shape he is always 100% ready to go. Floyd is a boxer puncher,counter puncher. The only thing about Floyd that I don't like is, most of the time he plays it too safe. Floyd knows that he could knock most of the men he has faced out . But rather than takeing the risk of getting caught with somting coming back at him he will box to a dicision win.Floyd has proven that he is the very best at what he does you may not like him or the way he wins but you have to give him the credit he has earned. You can nit pick if you want but at the begining of night he is one of the best that has ever lived.
