This is that type of fight. The legend vs. the legend killer.
Mayweather: A boxing prodigy turned savvy veteran, undefeated throughout his campaign from 130 to 154, displaying skills that rival or surpass any I've ever seen with my own eyes. People can hate him for who he is or how he behaves, but any true fan of the sport of boxing must respect his skill-set and talent, for those things are undeniably of the ATG caliber. Without trying to sound biased, I honestly can't help but liken a Floyd Mayweather fight to a performance art sometimes. If you've seen the Diego Corrales fight for instance, and you're a purist, surely you'll know what I mean by that.
Canelo: A 22 year old blessed with the opportunity to hand a loss to the greatest fighter of our generation. What more motivation would one need? Contrary to the belief that he's a green fighter, he's really more of a young veteran. He's got 42 professional fights on his record. Nothing about that spells "green" to me. Lacking big names on his resume? Yes. Inexperienced? Not in the least. He's got most all the tangible advantages in his favor. The question is if he'll actually be able to use those to his advantage.
The kid can pull the upset. No question. Do I think he will? No.
I think Mayweather will use his grants to paint a pretty picture, and that he'll use Canelo's face as the canvas. If I had a gun to my head right now, I'd say Mayweather wins by UD. I've seen Canelo get tired, and if he gets tired against Floyd, he'll be punished for it. There is no question or doubt in my mind about that. The only way I think Canelo wins this fight is if he knocks Floyd out. He has to catch him, hurt him, and jump on and finish him. That's his only out, in my opinion.
At 22, Canelo is still young, but I think he's set in his ways as a fighter. I don't think he'll be able to adjust to what Floyd is able to do in the ring. I see Floyd winning this fight despite being fourteen years older an most likely at least twenty pounds lighter on fight night. I see his boxing IQ trumping the young gun in this one, and possibly stopping Canelo late if he gasses.
Seeing as how I only have an opinion, and not the ability to see into the future, I'm really excited to see the fight and see how it plays out. I'm looking forward to it.
Mayweather is a slight favorite, Alvarez is as live an underdog as can be found. This one is really a coin toss, it could go either way/
Rooting for Alvarez
i like mayweather i like canelo
mayweather is better 4 now
i would whoop both of them theyre too short
As much as I want to see Floyd get KTFO, I don't see it happening though. Canelo is made to go down in weight 2 lbs. under his lightest limit. Idk if Canelo could keep his power there.
Canelo by TKO
