To answer the question;
Allot of the championships both Hearns and Mayweather won were paper champions. Hearns was only the universally recognized champion at welterweight and 154lbs, while Floyd has never been the universally recognized champion in any division. If he had fought Kostya Tszyu at 140lbs, he would have been, or if he had fought Pacman at 147lbs, he would have been the universally recognized champ [unifying all 4 recognized belts].
With that said; I'd say Mayweather is greater. I'm not saying he would have lost to Mayweather [because styles make fights] but Hearns doesn't have as many successful defenses, though allot of Hearns losses were against the best [Leonard] and middleweights. Mayweather never fought the best of his era, the 3x fighter of the year, fighter of the decade former p4p king, but now it's 2 late.
Floyd all day, Tommy Hit Man Hearns got knocked out nasty a bunch of times, Floyd has never even been knocked down, Floyd vs Ray Lenard would be a better comparison,, But Hearns is a joke compared to Floyd..lol hit man, most the fights i saw he looked like the get hit man
