Floyd Mayweather Jr. Vs Julio Chavez Sr.?

Typical Mayweather vs. Legend question where people just pick the legend everytime even though in this case it is clear who is better.

Mayweather would beat Chavez Sr. easily. Chavez combinations and body shots don't mean anything if he can't land them. People acting like Floyd would just stand there and take them. Mayweather throws few punches in order to defend himself. His Boxing IQ is incredible and can adjust to any situation. Mayweather knows how to defend his body very well when he has to and can roll off right hands from an orthodox stance fighter. That's when frustration starts to kick in.

DAVID got this question right.

Believe it or not, Floyd would out-class Chavez Sr. Don't forget how brilliant and how much of a boxing master Floyd is. Remember how fast Floyd was against Corrales? JCC would have trouble keeping from being punched in the face the whole fight, cause he wouldn't see it. JCC would have some moments and get the crowd going, but Mayweather would counter him and his high boxing IQ would break JCC down and by the 9th round, Mayweather would be hitting JCC and not getting hit himself, JUST LIKE ALL HIS FIGHTS. Why would anything change? Mayweather by cut stoppage or UD.

OK first off the chavez that was ko'd by oscar was a shot 34 almost 35 year old fighter who had a record of 97-1-1 record. He was done and WAY out of his prime. So don't even go there.

Now as far as the fights go I would Lean toward Chavez winning. But I would not be shocked to see FLoyd pull off a decision.Mainly because his great defense.Go watch the Roger Mayweather vs Julio Cesar Chavez fight and you will see roger has a very similar defensive stance as Floyd and he got floored by Chavez.I think people dont understand you could not make Chavez get tired and that is were he would beat Floyd.Floyd always wins by tiring out his opponents and that would back fire on him against Chavez because in the 9th through 11th round when Chavez would be destroying Floyds bod and arms and Im sorry I just dont see anyone taking that kind of damage.

Floyd said 44 have tried and 44 have Failed

Well in his prime Chavez said 89 have tried and 89 have Failed

ill go with the best and the best is jcc why because yea floyd is fast but no power punch and i seen most of chavez fights and he had both not only he could punch with speed but with a lot of power and don't even go with the defense because most of the fight i seen about chavez his opponent could even touch him and somebody said that he defeated roger but that doesn't meant anything you are right and somebody also said that de la hoya beat chavez and then floyd beat de la hoya better but lets be honest de la hoya wasn't even half of the boxer chavez was the only thing was that chavez was done

I think chavez would win because floyd has never faced a fighter like JCC. A fighter who goes at u attacking ur body and suficating you. JCC was not just a brawler he was also a very technical figher who didnt just threw wild punches he picked hos spots and he had power. But i could this fight being like the witaker fight and maybe floyd wins by decision if he could handle the sufication of chavez.

I'll be honest, I go with Mayweather. Too much defense. I would not be surprised if Mayweather embarrased him. Chavez, no matter how great, he is the typical mexican warrior. It just happens that Chavez Sr. is a legend, but in the end, that's how it is.

Mayweather would not go to war with Chavez, he would definitely lose. By Mayweather using his defense. It would be UD.

I think Chavez Sr. vs Floyd would have been a lot like the first Chavez/Taylor fight. Floyd's hand speed isn't anywhere near Meldrick Taylors but it's close enough for the comparison, Given the problems Castillo gave Mayweather, I think Chavez would be the favorite and Floyd an underdog in this one.

Prime for prime, I think Chavez could be competitive and threatening to Floyd at 130 up to 140 pounds classes. I am not saying Chavez could beat Floyd because looking at the types of fighters, particularly Afro- American, that Chavez faced and mostly OFFICIALLY but controversially beat, nothing approached the talent level and mentality of Floyd Mayweather with the sole exception of Pernell Whitaker, Floyd's uncle Roger, Meldrick Taylor, Rocky Lockridge and Frankie Randall were all game, cagey fighters without much defense.

There's no question about JC's mastery over uncle Roger whom he beat at 130 and later 140 lbs. But you and I know Chavez lost that drawn fight versus Pernell big time with only Don King's influence with the judges saving his reputation and unbeaten record at that time. Chavez even struggled against the limited Lockridge who had been kayoed before by Juan LaPorte and beaten by Eusebio Pedroza. Meldrick was pitching a no hitter until he got caught in the last round and the fight was stopped with barely two ticks left! Randall beat him twice really and even King somewhat hinted his comeback after that lost first bout and told him, " Not tonight, babe". In their next bout, Chavez was gifted with a technical decision allowing to regain his crown and"avenge" his first OFFICIAL career defeat!

Floyd would be tested like never before at 130, 135 and140 by prime time Chavez but he would dissect JC's game and surely find a way to beat him on points by close but unanimous decision or at the very least, majority decision.

At 147, Floyd stops Chavez by the middle rounds.

Get real! Floyd would not stand up there and trade, And we very well know, and that at that game, nothing beats Floyd, certainly NOT the type of JCC.

Chavez Sr will do what Cotto And Castillo did to Mayweather, but at a higher tempo and much more power, also He will eat up Floyd punches

Floyd, Too fast, too elusive. Yes, Chavez will try to get inside and break his opponents down but I see Mayweather pulling a Whitaker-type performance here.

I know he didn't fight him but he fought De La Hoya who KO'ed Chavez twice when Chavez was in his early 30's ... I know Chavez took more abuse because he had tons of fights but how would he have done against Floyd?? Would he have been able to land his punches or Mayweather's defense would win again?

And please answer this based on talent and skill and not where the boxer is from ... I know Mexican fans think Mexican would pick the Mexican fighter just cuz he is Mexican but I want this answer based on skill and realistically ... Not lean into someone because he is fom the same country or because ur a fan of him as a boxer ... Just as two boxers

Floyd

They both faught delahoya, floyd did better against delahoya, Either way, ive always felt this fight could go either way, chavez has KO power and Floyd has good defense, One night chavez might win the next Floyd.

chavez's body shots would win it for me ,as gifted as floyd is i think JCC would out work floyd who throws single punches compared to chavez's combonations.

I'd go with JCC Sr. because he's tougher and he hit harder than Floyd. His brutal body shots would take down Floyd.
