A few. as an older fighter if he's still competing he could most definatley be in light heavyweight division.
Duran went from lightweight to fighting Iran Barkley! And hearns went from a skinny welter all the way to light heavy so definatley, if canelos career is long enough he will too. I just don't rate his boxing skills high enough to compete with those top guys though.
It's possible for him to move up at middleweight and fight Sergio Martinez and Chavez Jr. especially if he wins versus Floyd this September. Personally, win or lose to Floyd, I think Canelo, barring any woeful defeat to Money, really has to pull all strings to get a fight with Sergio since Maravilla has just another year or two before he hangs his gloves for keeps. An All-Mexican fight with Chavez Jr. though viable and marketable may be harder to make as Chavez is under Top Rank/HBO.
Let's just see first how Canelo fares against Floyd and then we can talk shop about Sergio and Junior.
About Ward, it's a little up there above the clouds, though it's possible in the next two, three years.
Haye may be retired by the time Canelo is thinking about moving up to the light heavyweights, if ever. Canelo is already too short and squat for the super middleweights even assuming he can develop or bring up his power and strength from the junior middleweights.
after he's beaten a shot to sh1t david haye at light heavyweight in who will be 42 in 10 years time, then I think he should try and get tyson fury at 175. Do you agree.
You're an idiot enough said. He won't go past middleweight.
By that logic Ricky Hatton should already be setting up a fight with Vladimir or his brother Vitali.
David Haye? LOL.
....fight Sergio Martinez, Julio C. Jr., then (drumroll plz) Andre Ward, then (bigger drumroll) David Haye at light heavyweight/catch weight?
This may sound crazy. But even Sugar Ray Leonard fought in Light Heavyweights. Canelo already walks around 170-185 (reportedly). He's only 22 years old. He's only 5'9", but Tyson was only 5'10-11. He's not even close to being a man or having the bone density he will have when he's approaching 30. Scary to imagine what a monster he will be at 33 if he keeps his head on straight. Athletes are better older now, more than ever. I'm not saying he's going to be a huge light heavy or a huge heavyweight down the road. But, think back to all the welterweights/middleweights that ended up fighting in light-heavy. I mean c'mon guys, he should not even be fighting this weight class, he should be fighting Andre Ward's weight class.
BTW. I don't believe he will be awesome or anything spectacular, but if you know the human body and boxing, he can weigh in 184, no problem and fight in light heavy in the future and an Andre Ward superfight in 4-5 years could happen.
