Man that's one of the toughest fights ever to pick. Moorer at LHW was an absolute MONSTER! Then again so was Qawi! Qawi was one of the toughest fighters ever, and he was also hard to hit. He was short, fought out of a crouch, and kept his chin tucked in. One thing Moorer didn't have was good foot movement to keep Qawi off balance. Even Mike Spinks, who really wasn't a mover, moved enough on his feet to keep Qawi guessing and gave him a few angles. I just don't see Moorer doing that. Moorer would try to catch Qawi with hard shots coming in but Qawi would slip a lot of them and bang Moorer to the body. I think Qawi had the chin to survive Moorer's bombs when Moorer does catch him and he'll punish Moorer enough to the head and body to stop him late in a fantastic war!
Hello! its been a while :)
great fight. i think Moorer wins despite Qawi being one of the toughest fighters of his era. but Moorer was just a beast at light heavyweight 22-0 (22 KO's). and being a southpaw trained by Emanuel Steward is why i give Moorer the edge. I see Moorer winning a late round stoppage after an intense back and forth battle. one thing they both have in common is being KO'd by George Foreman.
In his prime, Qawi was the baddest man on earth. Only Holyfield in HIS prim just squeeked out a win against him. Moorer would have wilted like a daizy.
great fight sir , i couldn't pick a winner with any certainty moorer was unbeaten and real ko artist at the weight but untested having not really beat anyone that great at the weight .
Qwai was one tough SOB and if he stood up to moorers shots i can see him wearing moorer down and getting a late stoppage or points win .
15 rounds at light heavyweight
