Unfortunately Roy is still active, he fought Courtney Fry and won by 5th round TKO today. He is long passed his prime and by all accounts a shot fighter, but name recognition is still a marketable product, and in professional boxing there are always parasites willing to make a few coins off an aging all time great. I was at the Jones/Toney fight about twenty years ago, when Roy was quite possibly the best to ever lace up the gloves. It is a tragedy and an embarrassment to boxing that Roy is still fighting at his advanced age, his skills are a thing of the past. That said, he earned the right to go out on his own terms, and like many greats before him, he will continue until he sees fit to retire. I have always been a huge Roy Jones Jr. fan, he is one of my all time favorite fighters, and for all of our sakes, I hope he takes a page out of Evander Holyfield's book and retires soon. I wouldn't want to see him injured. When the fans start fearing for a fighters safety, it's time to hang up the gloves.
