In agreement with more learned answers above and I believe their left foot and leg is in front too (the leading leg).
It's Not Southport it's Southpaw..
It means the boxer is Left Handed so Leads with his Right Hand instead of Left Hand for a Right Handed boxer..
The term is actually southpaw not southport. It means you lead (or jab) with the right hand as opposed to the traditional left. Left handed people are generally southpaw's but a good boxer should be able to fight both stances.
The term is 'Southpaw' and it is the style of fighting for left handed boxers. This stance is famous for small right handed jabs and large, heavy, left handed hooks and jabs.
Are you sure they're not saying "Southpaw?" In boxing parlance, southpaw = left-handed boxer.
orthodox stance is left foot and hand facing forward...southpaw is right hand and foot forward....so in te first you lead with left and second lead with right.
Detailed explanation here:
when watching boxing they mention the word southport
