The pigeons Mike Tyson used to raise have more boxing knowledge and personality than Max Kellerman.
I have loathed Max Kellerman from the day HBO decided to disgrace the network by hiring him, he is without a doubt the worst boxing commentator in the history of the business. After Max replaced Larry I grieved for HBO, they went from first to worst, it was like Tarver landing that left hook on Jones, HBO was never the same again.
Larry Merchant, love him or hate him was the best commentator in history, Kellerman is by far the worst. Kellerman makes Jim Lampley and Bob Papa look like Nat Fleischer and Burt Sugar. Kellerman is so bad I stopped watching HBO, I honestly think Kellerman, not Merchant or the money is what made Floyd Mayweather leave HBO boxing for ShowTime.
Kellerman replacing Merchant on HBO is a lot like Tiffany doing a remake of a Beatles song, you would rather listen to someone scratching their finger nails across a chalk board than subject yourself to such abuse. The biggest mistake HBO every made with it's boxing segment was hiring Max, that bone headed move cost them millions of boxing fans and actually significantly contributed to the overall decline of Boxing as a whole in America.
He's certainly not as smart as he thinks he is. In the company of Lampley, Merchant and the late Emanuel Steward, he was beyond his depth and even now with RJJ's unique insight next to Jim's live commentary it's sometimes hard to figure out why he's there. He comes up with a lot of quotes and sayings that sound pre-reheased and a lot of times they don't make sense or fit into what's going on in the ring. It annoys the crap out of me and Iv'e often wondered (and asked on Y questions), why he's able to keep his job at HBO.
He does a lot of things, interviews before and after the fight, analysis and all that. He see's himself as something of a young Larry Merchant or Bert Sugar type individual, the only problem is, nobody else sees him that way.

Every time I watch boxing after dark on HBO now, this ************ is there. Every time he opens his mouth he spews idiocy. He reminds me of a little kid who tries to add to the serious adult conversation his dad and uncles are having, but instead stops it dead in its tracks because everybody's IQ has dropped 15 points due to what he just said.
