At 135lbs he did not fight the best, Casamayor was the king at the time and Floyd didn't make the fight.
At 140lbs he did not fight the best, he fought paperchampion Ghatti but did not fight the real champion; Kostya Tszyu.
At 147lbs he did fight the best in Baldomir but he starting ''pick and choose'' by fighting lightweights coming up instead of Paul Williams, Cotto, or Pacman when they were the top fighters at 147lbs.
At 154lbs he did fight the best. He beat Oscar, Cotto and Canelo.
Yes he fights the best fighters. Ppl say he fights good fighters when they get old but now floyd is 36 & his next fights will be against great fighters under 30 besides manny
Floyd hasn't fought a prime, world class boxer, since Ricky Hatton.
Marquez was a lightweight, fighting at welterweight, Mosley was way past his prime, so was Cotto. Ortiz and Guerrero are just average, and Canelo had fought nobody except tomato cans and washed up former names before he fought Mayweather.
If you look at the fighters that Floyd could and should have fought during his career, you see how many great boxers are missing from his record.
Yes..it took him awhile to fight some top notch fighters..but I think he is fighting the best..Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya and Sugar Shane Mosley..all top notch fighters..im interested to see him and Tim Bradley fight..if Bradley wins his next bout and continue to improve..as for Pacquiao..he would never be a threat to Floyd because he has no defense and is all offense..Floyd would use his aggression against him.
Except for Pacquiao, he has fought and beaten all the fighters his detractors said would be a match or capable of beating him. We cannot ask for anything more given the boxing politics and business. Am from thye Philippines and I can say that Pacquiao himself could not claim to fighting all the best that's available in his own rise also on account of the politics and business side of boxing.
Yes. Those who say otherwise are completely incapable of naming a legitimate opponent. All they can name is fighters at Middleweight or Pacquiao, who had his shot and turned it down. Now that fight won't happen thanks to that and Bob Arum who will not do business with Mayweather.
or is he dodging some? Where are you from.
