I do not believe that there will ever be another Muhammad Ali, in the near future. He captivated a large audience with his antics, such as predicting the round in which an opponent would fall, he was at times correct. He was a breath of fresh air to a sport that was becoming stagnant with an array of constant contenders, as well as a menacing champion in Sonny Liston, and his constant ties to organized crime. He became World Heavyweight Champion, by stopping Liston, in 1964, and gave any and all a shot at the title. He defended his title in foreign lands, displaying his mettle as champion for all the world to see.He lived a clean life, free from criminal influence, which plagues some of the boxing stars of today. He spoke up for what he believed in, he objected to the war in Vietnam, and most of America shared the same sentiment in 1966. In 1967 at the height of his boxing prime, he refused to be inducted into the U.S Army, Ali was stripped of his boxing title and license. He was convicted of draft evasion in a Houston Federal court. He received a five year sentence and a $10,000.00 fine. He appealed his conviction after posting bond, and was exonerated by the U.S Supreme Court in 1971, by a unanimous vote by the justices. And after an unsuccessful title regaining fight against champion Joe Frazier in 1971, He continued, fighting other top contenders, and regained the title in 1974, knocking out Frazier conqueror George Foreman in 8 rounds. Ali stopped Frazier in 14 rounds in Manila, lost to Leon Spinks in 1978, only to regain the title 7 months later. He is a legend, he was never incarcerated for assault or rape, but stood up for what he believed. He is admired the world over. One can only speculate how greater he would have been if he had not been robbed of 3 and a half years away from boxing, 1967-1970. We may never know. He is retired now, and suffers from the effects of Parkinson's Disease, but he was intelligent to invest his ring earnings well, so he would not end up broke like several ex- fighters today.
All the people who run the US and the world knew Ali would be a huge force in politics and as a public speaker and had the personality to be as big and influential as Martin Luther King Jr and they poisoned him to keep him silent. The most influential and effective thing about Ali was his SPEAKING ability, and that is what he lost right towards the end of his boxing career right before his retired. If he still was able to speak, he would have had an even greater, massive impact on the world, but the people who are in power, you can call them the Illuminatti if you want, made sure that he wouldn't be able to talk again once he retired and stopped making everyone money. If you really think about it, it makes perfect sense. Ali didn't take any more punches to the head than any other boxer who fought as long as he did.?
Yes, he is a living legend. More than 30 years after he left boxing, Ali still casts a large shadow over the heavyweight division and boxing in general with his unprecedented feats inside and outside the ring. He remains the yardstick with which the modern greats are measured.
Yes. There will never be another like Muhammad Ali formerly known as Cassius Marcellus Clay. He was much much more than a boxer. He was the voice of a generation the 1960s. There will never be another like him.
No doubt not only an amazing and inspiring boxer but also very charitable. A living legend indeed.
Yes sir... Ali is the first clear word I speak when I was a toddler.
Yes. Period! You ask Ali that question and he'll reply in jest: "Is the pope a Catholic??"
Without a doubt, you cannot say enough to describe his impact on boxing or society.
All day everyday
no doubt....
