Most definitely. I feel confident going out on the town or walking home by myself because I know I have a better chance of defending myself. As for the stress and anger release, it works wonders! Physical exercise and being healthy has underrated effects on depression, anxiety, anger etc. :)
Yes, it's a great stress reliever and helps with aggression. It also is one of the best ways to keep fit. Good luck.
