We all know what a b@stard Mike Tyson is as a human being and he had so many legal problems that led him going into prison and got sued a lot of times. It wouldn't surprise if he also raped Desiree Washington.
Just because he was found guilty doesn't mean he did it. We would like to have faith in the legal system but, unfortunately, we can not always have faith. Usually, the party with the better lawyer, or team of lawyers, wins. In this case, I will always wonder if that case was totally credible. So many factors point to the contrary.
Of all the stupid things Tyson did in his young life, this is one thing I'm just not sure he's guilty of. O.J. Simpson was acquitted of murder. Do you believe he's innocent? He was acquitted because the L.A. detective wanted to see him fry and couldn't resist the temptation to tamper with evidence, thus creating the "reasonable doubt". The bottom line is that OJ (piece of scum that he is) had the better team of lawyers.
It's a shame but that's the way it goes. Welcome to America.
Now, you would think that Mike Tyson, with all his money, would be able to afford smarter lawyers. The problem is that, for all his money, Don King had more --partly because he had most of Tyson's. King didn't see too devastated when Tyson went "up the river". King was a very powerful man at the time and Mike was no match for him. You can't help but wonder -and see- how King benefits with Tyson "on the shelf" for a few years. King -crooked as he is- is a very smart man. He was thinking long-term. He knew that Mike would be worth MUCH more if people believed he was beatable. King made more off Mike in 95 than he would have between 92 and 95.
Mike was foolish to be bothered with Desiree but I don't think even he saw that coming.
Lastly, I've spoken to dozens, literally, of people who believe that Desiree went digging and struck gold. I lived and worked not far from where she lived and most of the people who knew her believed the same. She was a gold digger.
Go figure.
Mike Tyson will take to his grave his innocence of what I believe he was wrongfully convicted for. Mike Tyson has done some really crazy things, hell he has admitted to some of the most Haynes crimes and things imaginable but adamantly denies raping Desiree Washington to this day, why?
I don't think Mike Tyson raped Desire Washington because when Mike Tyson went crazy towards the end of his boxing career with all of his swearing and boisterious overtones speaking his mind ,even then he said he didn't rape her but said he wish he would have.
Some 25 years later Mike Tyson has overcame his depression and defeated his demons and he still claims his innocents.
In a society noted for casual sex, sexual permissiveness and sexual promiscuity, rape is the hardest thing to prove though it varies from state to state. It's almost unbelievable that Mike Tyson would be accused and found guilty of rape, not in these modern times. I think it's another case of whom the gods wish to destroy.
Whether he did or didn't is irrelevant, but if I recall my thoughts on the case correctly I felt there was a grain of truth on both sides and Mike was ultimately punished (rightly or wrongly) by the sum of his criminal activity. Ultimately, it was his ignorance and mental instability that continuously placed him in criminal situations and I reserve no sympathy for it. As for his legal team, unless you know who was really calling the legal shots it's difficult to criticize anything. For example Jim Parkman and Art Leach were frontmen for the criminal defense of former Health South CEO Richard Scrushy and the man behind the curtain was Donald Watkins. King could of provided Tyson a similar defense structure, I don't know and I don't care enough to research whether he did or didn't. Besides, it wasn't King's duty to provide ANYTHING for Tyson's defense.

My point of view of the story is Mike called Desiree to hangout with him because he wanted company. She was driven (Mike's personal limo) to Mike Tyson's Mike's Hotel Suite 1-2 AM in the morning. They were talking for an hour, about their lives. Mike Tyson started flirting. Desiree gave consent in some form and let him continue. Tyson started with the Grabbing and kissing. I recall Tyson giving her Oral, and she said Stop it in a playful matter, than she says she has to go to the bathroom. She walks in the bathroom removing her panty liners, preparing for the Sexual Intercourse
