Deontay Wilder what do you think?

Next great American heavyweight or overhyped journeyman.

Glass Jawed Hype Job, Kevin "Safety pin" johnson who throws punches like it cost him money would spark this bum.

Wilder is Michael grant 2.0

Edit:

@Sean G: Wilder was KO'd in the Amateurs by a Russian Cruiserweight in the USA vs Russia tournaments theres a video on youtube somewhere, he was lucky he was knocked out of the Olympics because he would've been KO'd if not.

James Ali Bashir a guy whi works with wlad confirmed that wlad dropped and hurt him multiple times, also david haye had wilder doing the chicken dance in sparring.

Pretty sure manny steward was just being nice say wider will dominate because he said the same about tyson fury saying hes going to be the next dominant heavyweight.

I'd lean slightly towards journeyman. I mean Wilder, an Olympic Medalist, still hasn't stepped it up a notch in his competition even after competing in the pros(just right after the 2008 Beijing Olympics) for nearly 7 years and still hasn't faced any of the Top 10 Ranking Heavyweights.

O, ye of little faith! Patience! George Foreman also fought mostly bums, journeymen, has beens and even blown up light heavyweights (Roberto Davila and Gergorio Peralta ) in his first 31 fights prior to decapitating the great undefeated Joe Frazier inside two rounds for the heavyweight title in 1972. Is this a tribute to the quality of the journeymen of yore compared to the succeeding generations? Could be.

But then Foreman was not dispatching his diet of journeymen as quickly and as easily as Deontay is doing now!

Next up for Deontay is the once beaten Malik Scott whose only loss came against Derek Chisora ( TKO6.) His performance versus Scott could be a gauge of how Wilder will fare against rated heavies. But not as a definitive accurate gauge as Foreman also struggled against Peralta in two fights. At that time nobody would have given Peralta a chance in hell against Frazier! .

Seriously the biggest hypejob heavyweight in history. This guy gots no skills whatsoever. He only throws windmills, has NO CHIN, and with twig legs. He was knocked out in the amateurs by Evgeny Romanov. Keep in mind this is with headgear and heavier padded gloves. Now imagine when he steps up in competition to a top heavyweight. Scott is ranked #26 by The WBC. First time he's actually fighting a top 50 heavyweight. Wlad will knock this guy out cold.

This reminds me of the saying "too good to be true". At 30-0 with 30 KOs, the boxing world is saying, they don't believe its true and that a suspect resume makes most wonder, what Golden Boy is protecting him from?

My guess is that most of you are right... it's his chin...possibly. My only doubt of that is that A) He's been sparring partner for Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye. That means hes gotta be somewhat durable.

B) He survived the Olympics and 30 pro fights without getting knocked out... durable.

I want to believe as an American fan that Wilder is what Manny Steward said he'd be...the next American champion. Steward knows more than our entire forum combined. He felt Wilder would be ready to contend for a title in late 2013. The Malik Scott fight in March will tell us a lot. He needs to step up the competition after only fighting 1 top 40 heavyweight (Audrey Harrison).

I think that he's been riding thins wave of knock outs into the ground building momentum. 30 KOs from 30 fights is impressive no matter how you look at it. He is defs the best American heavyweight at the moment but I will not say i'm sold on him until he beats a solid guy with power ie. not Malik Scott. Let's see him fight Jennings or Pulev. I think Pulev will stop the hype train.

The potency of Wilder's power is mached only by the brittleness of his glassy jaw.

He is a journeymen at the moment, but he has serious potential of being a one hit wonder. He got a bronze at the olympics, so did Mayweather.

If forced into a draining chess match, i believe he'll prove to be and look like cr@p.

When is he going to step it up a level?

I'd like to see him and Tyson Fury fight.

2 big unskilled punchers with 100% records.

Would be a war at least.

well we will know once hes being tested against a serious contender
