well obviously it can sell pretty good. Martinez is the bigger man and has the advantage pretty much in every category, power, speed, footwork, stamina movement. Martinez fights alot like pacquiao with all that lateral movement and power and that can destroy cotto. It would be a great fight but cottos past stamina issues can be a problem. I know cotto is hailed as a warrior but lets not overlook the fact that he also has a tendency to quit in fights and if sergio bust him up, can cotto have the will power to continue?i know he did against clottey.
Having said all that though, now that cotto has roach as his trainer maybe he can work his stamina issues, if he can do that, then i think he can give martinez a run for his money but i think in the end martinez wins it by stoppage or decision, remember, he traded with a 6'1 paul williams for 12 rounds and then knocked him out cold in their second fight.
I would pick Martinez by TKO. Cotto would be super aggressive, as he was against Rodriguez. This would play into the trap of Martinez, whose awkward style would set Cotto up for some bull and matador moments. In the end, the bigger, stronger Martinez would cause the ref to have mercy on Cotto.
Depends on what weight they decide on. 154 Cotto TKO, catch weight 156-158 Cotto UD and 160 Martinez UD. Martinez is old and doesn't have the same KO power he had in his prime.
Sergio hits harder for sure, but Cotto has better boxing skills and a warrior's heart. With his new-found confidence and Roach in his corner, I'd pick Cotto to outbox Martinez. Cotto by UD.
martinez is..... his bigger. cotto no like fast southpaw, u see he fite wit me and trout eh?
speed v. experience... thats the right match...
unlike floyd v. canelo or guerrero... speed v. inexperienced... total waste of time
Well from a i heard cotto and martinez are about to fight like negotiations are going well.. SO I Feel this is great for cotto cuz martinez isnt the same and hes injurys have probably be a big factor in the fight. Cotto stop martinez in the 9
