Douglas upset a very rusty Tyson who even almost knocked him out if not for a suspected long count while Bowe roundly beat a younger, prime and undefeated Holyfield in their first fight and erased all doubts by coming back from a near KO punch himself to put away an impetuous Evander by KO in their third match.
Bowe if his mind is on it would have been the best heavyweight of the 1990s notwithstanding Lennox Lewis.
Bowe wins by close but unanimous decision or late round stoppage.
Every since douglas beat tyson. People suddently think that he was a better fighter than Riddick bowe? No, he was not. Bowe was a far better boxer than tyson ever was. Riddick bowe lost only 1 time in his career and that was to evander holyfied. Bowe recovered and beat evander in the trilogy. The same evander holyfield that put 2 loses on tysons record!! I agree anything is possible but people is overrating him ( Douglas ). Riddick bowe will knockout Busta douglas.
Two guys that lacked something even though they had all the tools to be great.
I would go with riddick bowe, had the jab, the length, and power to put away buster douglas within 6 rounds.
But I am biased, bowe was favorite fighter as a kid.
Buster Douglas was,in my opinion, a champion-level heavyweight who simply lacked consistency.
In the Tyson fight, we saw the real Douglas. He could take a punch, got up from a vicious knockdown, and showed terrific boxing skill and power.
I actually believe Douglas was one of the all time greats.....potentially. If he had fought all the time at his best, he could take on just about anyone.
He took Tyson to pieces, and despite Tyson not being at his best, it was still a young Tyson who could still hit, and Tyson gave it all he had. His corner was terrible, but still, Tyson fought quite a tough battle.
Anyway, on that day, that particular Douglas would have given any heavyweight in history a good match.
I put him ahead of Bowe.
On his other days, Bowe wins.
good fight .. buster fought like a man on a mission vs tyson ,he proved his heart in that fight as well showing great skill . he had a great jab and showed he could fight inside .
bowe was a great fighter he had it all but i think holyfield was a good guy for bowe to look good against because of the size difference and holy's style .
i think douglas could win this ,it's not a certainty but i have feeling Douglas could win a tight fight on points .
