They turned it down because why would you put your two most promising heavyweight prospects against each other. Their most likely going to be big stars. Especially Deontay because of his power. If a fight between the 2 happened, Bryant is the more well rounded of the two but Deontay has power that can give you seizures in one shot. And Brayant isn't exactly a spectacular defender, he can be hit and if Wilder touches him, you'll need a coffin for Brayant.
Jennings and wilder are on different promotional companies. the fight did not happen because golden boy wanted to takes the least risk possible to get a number 1 ranking Jennings And Perez were number 3 & 4 If I remember correctly and Wilder was number 2. but Wilder in an Eliminator fight only had to fight the number 26 rated guy. so the bigger question is why was Scott allowed to fight in an eliminator? The answer is because the promoters are in the pockets with the organizations. if you don't want to play by our rules give us more money that is the motto of professional boxing. in all reality Wilder should have been forced to fight Jennings. No other sport allows the bending of rules so easily just by making a payments.
I don't know about this.
Whatever critics may think of Deontay, he has POWER. Like a young George Foreman, he was very raw and wild but he had natural power. Deontay has that, he's 6''7 yet only 225lbs - I hope that is a sign of good conditioning, I think the low body weight means he'll be able to last long.
People say he needs to step up his competition yet when he signed to fight Audley Harrison, various articles said ''this was his first test''.
Bryant Jennings can go the distance but isn't explosive like Deontay, yet Deontay is ranked 3rd by the WBC rankings and 6th by the WBA rankings, but the guy can punch. And he's FAST.
I like Wilder, he's very exciting, fast, explosive and funny. Some don't like him for not 'stepping up his competition', but he's a fun fighter to watch.
I think Deontay would win, but both are generally untested.
EDIT: The reason Deontay started boxing is because his daughter has a disease, a rare one, I find it inspiring that Deontay really took to Boxing. He puts his heart into it.
It's too early for those two to fight each other ,especially considering they are both promising prospects ,this fight should happen when the fight becoms more marketable ,until then ,it should the the U.S. VS the world as far as Deontay Wilder and Bryant Jennings are concerned.
Jennings and Wilder are two of the three ( the other is Amir Mansour ) still undefeated American heavyweight boxers hoping to contend for a world title. With such a thin rank of world rated fighters, it would be best not to pit two up and coming Americans at this early against each other. Veterans Chris Arreola and Tony Thompson are currently the USA's leading heavyweight bets but they have been beaten in world title fights before. Seth Mitchell and Jonathon Banks have cancelled each other and Mitchell even dropped further following his KO loss to Arreola. It's better and wise to allow these few American heavyweight hopefuls to gain more seasoning and to improve further by fighting foes from other countries.
I would rather see them fight other notable names. Their young, and untested so fighting each other really doesn't show anything. Their is plenty of competition out their for them guys like Thompson, and Arreola, or Banks, and Mitchell would be a veteran American for them to face, or fight an Undefeated Fury, or Helenious, Lucas Browne. Or other proven vets like Povetkin, Adamek, and Chisora. These would all be great step ups. Fight each other is just two untested guys fighting each other. If they would fight though. I like Wilder's speed, and power, but he's a little raw. Jennings is more polished, but isn't as explosive.
why did golden boy turn this fight down who do you think would win
