Mike Tyson was a professional heavyweight boxer. He weighed well over 200 pounds, and dedicated his life in his prime years to the rigorous daily training regime of boxing. He had a great amateur career, went on to win at the Olympics, and was the youngest heavyweight champion in history. His style was that of a swarmer, he had tremendous power in each hand, and he also had great head movement, an effective jab, and could take a punch. He ranks in the top fifty heavyweights of all time. He was also very tough and had quite a few street fights in his youth (and later).
Bruce Lee was a movie actor. Probably the best known martial arts movie actor of all time.
Lee studied martial arts, also got into some street fights as a youth, taught martial arts, gave some martial arts demonstrations, got into one private and controversial fight with Wong Jack Man, created his own philosophy of martial arts (Jeet Kune Do) and wrote material on this and other martial arts.
We also know that many martial artists expressed admiration for Lee's conditioning, skills, and speed.
However....Lee was not a professional fighter. In fact, he never had a single pro fight, and moreover, no amateur fight career either.
Lee is remembered as an iconic actor, student, teacher, writer....
but truthfully, he had absolutely no amateur or professional fighting experience of any kind.
This makes a huge difference. Anyone who has been in a boxing gym knows what kind of shape pro boxers maintain, how much sparring they do every day, and what kind of skills they need to even compete as a basic club boxer, never mind an elite one.
Moreover, there is the question of size. They have weight classes in boxing, and in martial arts, for a very good reason. Tyson, who was heavyweight champion of the world, was considerably larger and stronger than the diminutive Lee, who was less than 140 pounds in his prime, and only 5'7".
In the ring under boxing rules, this would be a mismatch. Wiithout the size, experience, and boxing skills, Lee would face a very short end.
On the street, the outcome would be the same.
Tyson started out as a street fighter. His tactics in the ring were sometimes questionable (he bit Holyfield, for example). Tyson knew how to box, but he also knew how to street fight.
None of this takes anything away from Lee as a person or as an actor. He was great in all his movies (and in the Green Hornet), and he became a legend in the eyes of the public as a martial artist. He was an innovator on the big screen, and if I met him I would ask for his autograph.
If I met Tyson, I would keep my distance.
Depends are they using gloves or no gloves? if they were using gloves i feel Mike Tyson. same as frank r, but in a street fight i disagree because Bruce Lee can hit hard with his bare fists. and he is very elusive. all in all if they had boxing gloves the victor would be: Mike Tyson, if it were a street fight the victor is: Bruce Lee
Bruce lee could just give him a one inch punch and he's knocked out he's fast strong fast kicks and dodging skills
Tyson no contest and im a Bruce lee fan.
If this was a boxing match Tyson all the way. Bruce Lee is 5 foot 7 inches and 135 pounds. He would fight at lightweight. he could not do any damage to Tyson with gloves on with boxing rules. Tyson is used to being hit by way bigger and stronger 200 pound men. If you move the fight to the street with no rules Lee has a chance. He would not stand toe to toe and fight Tyson with fists. He could try things that were illegal in boxing low kicks to the ankles and knees. Tyson in the ring Lee on the street.
We do not want any retards here we want real serious comments and bring info and if you don't know who bruce lee is the. You can say bye bye ????
