Break down on Rio's vs Alverado?

Alvarado just did what he should have done in the first fight..

I'm not hating when I say this.. It's just blatant to me, and I don't sugarcoat anything so I'll say it. I never really thought Rios was all that good, and that he'd be outboxed by anyone with decent boxing ability and lateral movement. Rios is stuck in the mud when he fights, and that's the way he likes it. That doesn't mean his opponent has to comply with that type of fight. Rios was actually cutting the ring early on which surprised me, because I haven't seen any sort of tact from him like that outside of his rock em sock em in-fighting style, but he strayed from that and just got outboxed in the latter rounds. I'll expect to see the same thing in the rubbermatch unless Rios acknowledges the fact that not everyone is going to try to see who's the tougher of the two, and he embraces a little learning of ring generalship. Having a good chin will only get you so far at the elite level. You've got to polish different facets of your game. He needs to work on some things.

It was about time someone out-boxed Rios... Hopefully, Rios(and his trainer) will learn from this loss and start working defense on training! Moving his head, footwork, clinch when necessary, etc. Rios CAN take a punch, no doubt, but you don't get points for taking them -_- If Rios had dodge those punches, he might have won a decision, maybe another TKO if Rios had a counter punching game...

However, it was a great fight and both guys showed heart. The problem was that one of the fighters did not show brains.

Funny thing I must point out. Alvarado's cutman should be a full-time coach. The stuff he was telling Alvarado actually made sense and where helpful. Unlike other cutman's who are better off with ducktape on their mouths. Alvarado's got a great coach and an amazing cutman.

Rios however, has everything needed except the brains. Can you imagine a fighter who not only has a great defense, but also can't go down? Rios reminds me of Margarito, except crazier

It was a heck of a good fight. Early on, I didn't think the fight would go beyond the 5th or 6th round. Those two guys really went to war on each other...

I remember the announcer saying something about the cut man in Alvarado's corner taking over sometime in the middle of the fight. They (the announcers) were saying that the cut man took over coaching Alvarado and were praising this skill in keeping his fighter in top form.

In the end, they said the cut man was the reason Alvarado was able to win. While he did an outstanding job working on Alvarado's eyes and face, and he did a great job in changing the strategy to adapt to the fight, in the end Alvarado won that fight because he simply out boxed Tips.

A great fight, I would like to see the third fight. I expect it will be just as good or better than this one...

Rios wanted the slug fest they had in the first fight and got it in the first couple rounds once Alvarado won the next 2 he gained a lot of confidence in his game plan and was able to stick to it. Only coming in when he was ready and moving out of the way when he did not want to slug it out. Rios has no answer for that

Great fight by both fighters Alvarado fought a smarter fight and his corner did a better job of training him.

Roi's is one dimensional he does not move well he is a slugger in the purest sense. To say he did not fight a smart fight is easy to do because he didn't . His trainer should be fired because he had no answers for what Alverado was doing. If you go back and watch the fight you will see at the beginning of the 10 round Rio's gave up . Look at his body language when he stans up for the 10 round that his his trainers fault. The only major change Alverado made was to move more on the out side . I say only but it was huge for him because Rio's could not see when Alvarado stopped moving he would start punching. Rio'a defense is terrible he could not stop getting hit by over hand rights.

I give Alverado all the credit in the world and his trainer who ever he is. lol did you see his eyes after round two I thought they were going to pop out of his head lol? Alverado just wanted it more he was pumped for every round and he fought like it. Fight three coming up.
