It depends on what your goals are-For beginners to boxing I always recommend heavier padding to help protect your hands when your just starting out, the heavier padding helps protect you from knuckle damage and also offer more wrist support so your less likely to turn your wrist (possibly spraining it). If your getting very serious, I highly recommend Century Gold leather gloves. They're excellent quality and will offer you years of service.
You should try with 12 oz pro style.

They provided 8,12,14 and 16 oz boxing gloves. The boxing gloves for women also include many pink boxing gloves so that you can find your favourite match.
I'm 5'4 and I'm a guy and I use 14oz. I hit pretty hard so that's why I use them. I'd say get 14oz. It will protect your hands.
From the gloves set it says 16oz for 6ft+, 14oz for 5'7 and 12oz for 5'4.
Go to BEAULIEU CUSTOM BOXING EQUIPMENT on Facebook or ebay.We make custom sizes for M&F.
I'm starting to use a heavy bag and speed bag for training - with no plans for sparring, etc. I have small hands and am a female, about 170 pounds / 5'8". Can you recommend some boxing gloves to buy that will help protect my hands and wrists? I find all the options on Amazon, etc. to be overwhelming. I don't want to hurt myself while I'm getting in shape!
