Is the viewpoint that Wlad is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time confused with the fact that this has been one of the very weakest heavyweight divisions in decades. Putting Wlad in the same sentence with Joe Louis is a travesty IMO. Arreola better get ready for a real hugging, not mugging.
There is no current champion for the WBC.
Wlad could fight for it vacant but that doesn't look as pretty.
He will let Arreola fight someone for it and then he will challenge Arreora for it.
If Wlad wins the title he will be the only undisputed champion fighting today and he will be the only undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in the 90's & Mike Tyson in the 80's.
Wlad will join a list of the few, and his title defense reign will be the longest second only to Joe Louis.
Wlad is already 1 of the greatest heavyweight champions ever, with this title he will only further cement his legacy.
Up until he retired, Wlad's brother Vitali held the WBC heavyweight title, and obviously they would never fight each other.
Now that he is retired though, I wouldn't be surprised if Wlad ends up fighting the winner of Bermane Stiverne vs Cris Arreola, who are fighting for the vacant WBC title sometime soon.
The WBC is the only belt that Wladimir doesn't have, he's unified all the other major titles.
with everything thats going on in ukraine, boxing is the last thing on wlad's mind.
Why hasn't Wladimir Klitschko fought the boxing heavyweight champion of the World Boxing Council? He's been the boxing heavyweight champion of the International Boxing Federation since 2006. In all that time, I don't see why the two organizations haven't scheduled a match between their champions, and determined an overall champion.
