Boxing: Why hasn't Pacquiao stopped anyone since 2009?

In 2009, Pacquiao stopped Cotto at a catchweight...

Because he isn't a knockout artist at 147. His accumulation is the key and against Oscar and Cotto he was able to accumulate and get the stoppages. All that stuff about him being too generous is just an excuse for a lack of KO's, even against Cotto he didn't look overly keen to push for the stoppage in the 12th round but the ref just stopped it after he threw a combination, Cotto was still standing and clear headed but the damage on Cotto's face swayed the refs decision imo. Not saying it shouldn't have been stopped but it wasn't like Cotto was rocked badly. Even against Oscar he dominated in a great performance but that was another accumulation stoppage and Oscar couldn't take it anymore and gave up on his stall.

Against guys who have good defense like Bradley or against a veteran like Mosley who knows how to survive and not get hit flush too many times, he couldn't stop them.

It's basically just a crazy coincidence that as he has been getting older he has been fighting guys more difficult to accumulate on so the natural thing is that his power is diminished but honestly i'm entirely convinced that if he fought the 2009 version of Cotto now he would win in similar fashion and if he fought the 2012 version of Bradley in 2009 he would still struggle to get the KO by landing trademark combinations.

Never in my life have i heard people say a fighter's power has diminished because they have gotten older until some people who say this about Pacquiao. Usually it's stuff like speed, reflexes, stamina etc and Pacquiao's speed is still there, his stamina is still there and his reflexes were never Whitaker like but they are still sharp.

My theory: what wasn't there in the first place can't have been diminished.

At superfeatherweight and under well, that's an entirely different story.

Pacquiao is getting old? Starting to pace himself just for the victory D? And only getting into a KO war if need be?

I think Manny Pacquiao is really a welterweight waiting to happen when he was still fighting in the lower weights. That's not out of the ordinary especially for fighters from developing countries like the Philippines whose average weight for their teens and young adults hover between 105-115 lbs. only because of genetic, physical, physiological, dietary and nutritional factors. Usually fighters from these countries start very young and hence are fighting at the lower weights ( flyweights, at most bantamweights ). With age, better diet and nutrition, those fighters usually outgrow their divisions by mid or late 20s Flash Elorde who was almost the size of Pacquiao started out as a bantamweight in his teens and early 20s, grew to a featherweight by his mid 20s and blossomed into a lightweight by his late 20s and early 30s where he reached his prime and physical peak. Like Pacquiao, Elorde was demolishing rivals at lower weights but started having difficulties stopping foes at 130 -135 lbs. although he remained a strong lightweight.

Pacquioa was easily dispatching foes from 112 through 140 lbs. especially if he had no issues with the weight limits. But like Elorde and Luisito Espinosa ( who started out at flyweight and plateaued at feather and junior lightweight ) and even Pedro Adigue ( who started at featherweight, peaked at lightweight and welterweight ), Pacquiao also hit his optimum physical peak at 147 lbs.

Because he's fighting some rugged fighters with solid chins that are also naturally bigger than him.

Tim Bradley ,Juan Marquez ,Joshua Clottey and Brandon Rios have a combined 12 losses with 0 of those losses by way of KO.

Maybe he got off the juice. But why hasn't Floyd stopped anyone since 2007? Ortiz doesn't count lol. They're both frauds in some way or another.

Floyd Mayweather asked Pacquiao for random blood testing in 09 when their megafight was first announced.

Pacquiao said he was scared of needles but by 2010 he was not scared of needles.

I theorize that Pacquiao got clean in that period thus his performance went down.

Manny Pacquiao looked superhuman in his his fights with Oscar [after jumping 2 weight divisions], Hatton & Cotto.

I'm no flomo. I criticize Mayweather for picking easy fights but i don't deny that Pacquiao looked suspicious.

ps; Pacquiao is another fighter who took easy fights back when he struggled at below flyweight but then he jumped to welterweight & walked through the best. He looked superhuman, like Roy Jones [who was busted taking PEDs].

Its because Pac was holding back his power so as not to scare Floyd more, Sean. And yes, mercy for his opponents because of his new found religion. 4 years of waiting for Floyd it became Pac's habit just to win only by points instead of pursuing KO victory.

Sorry for Pac because when he found his azz super emphatic, Marquez was cooking something to kill Manny. There Pac had snow white slumber through Marquez black magic.lol

lolz.. Pacquiao last KO was HATTON the cocaine user credit from FLoyd Sr.

f*ck yall... hes been knockin out his opponent even b4 his US debut... his power was already been there long b4 he made name in manila

cotto, drained against pac and canelo aint against floyd? you guys cant gauge power, aint ya?

he stopped cotto and obviously margarito, that stoopid ref couldve saved tonys right eye in round 9

to asker...2 possible answer...

1. he held back out of mercy, as yall seen how hes worried for tonys eye he signal the ref about it on round 9... hes the kind of person who would drop his boxing career once he realized he killed or made cabbage his opponent due to his punches

2. coincidence, his opponents gone bigger, tougher unstoppable welters...their size made them harder to ko

In 2009, Pacquiao stopped Cotto at a catchweight...
