I've seen FAR too many to narrow it down to just one. But, if I must, I have to go with Wilfred Benitez vs Sugar Ray Leonard.
..
Hagler vs Hearns was also great. However, you knew what to expect with these two warrior mentalities. With Benitez, he seemed to have so little regard for Leonard.
.
Benitez' expression seemed to say something like ... "Olympic hero. Hmmph! You're nothing! I've already won two world titles. You're a boy in a man's sport".
.
Leonard kept his composure but did seem to be a bit taken aback by Benitez' demeanor. The amazing thing with Wilfred is that you usually knew where you stood with him. I'm fairly certain that he really did have little regard for Leonard's chances of winning.
Tommy Hearns and Wilfred Benitez had a pretty intense stare down, as well as Benitez and Ray Leonard. Hagler and Hearns had a great one to.
Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather 2007.
Everyone know DLH had a bit past his prime in this fight, but that never takes anything away from this fight. DLH was then still the hottest and most popular boxer, while Mayweather was then the best boxer. And it was a new record set for the most PPV buys that night. To me, that's the greatest stare down ever.
Wilfredo Benitez was pretty awesome at staredowns.
Watch his staredown against Hearns during the ring walk.
A recent one that comes to mind is Mayweather vs Cotto in the weigh in
Joe Frazier vs. George Foreman 1----Foreman inherited Liston's cold, deadly stare but Joe would not back down from any staring contest. Foreman would later confessed that he purposely tried to stare down Frazier to prevent him from noticing how his own knees were shaking from nervousness!
Ali-Liston I. Ali didn't back down from the obviously scary Liston though he admitted being "scared to death".
i had Hearns vs Hagler in the top
