Javier is a young up and comer who has proven himself against gatekeepers as Cristobal Cruz and Francisco Lorenzo and ertswhile unbeaten prospects like him as Patrick Hyland and Derrick Wilson in the featherweights and junior lightweights. He is the WBA interim featherweight titlist. The Dominican former amateur standout is still growing and maturing but such is his potentials that he could fight at 126, 130 and even 135 lbs.
A. I would rate him behind Garcia, Uchiyama Miura Bathelemy and Mendez at 130 lbs.
B. .To establish himself more at 130 lbs., I think he should fight the winner of the Farenas-Davis fight then go after any of the champions there..
C. He can throw power punches in bunches once he plants his feet and he is fast and could move very well inside the ring.
D. He still has the tendency to fade in the later rounds because either he has not logged enough mileage ( most of his wins, 17 out of 23 ended in early round KO/TKO) or he was beginning to have weight issues especially at featherweights. He barely beat Hyland and was held to draw by one beaten Cuban Luis Franco in his last fight at 126 lbs. He was extended by Mexican junior lightweight Juan Antonio Rodriguez to the full route in winning his fourth fight at junior lightweight.
He's been calling out Mikey Garcia so I think that should be made. His greatest strengths is his power and aggressiveness and his weakness is he needs to be smarter with his energy and he fades.
not much. if he wants to really think he is the real deal he should fight nicholas walters.
Not much
