50 cents doesnt know sh*t about boxing
WIth all due respect 50 Cent hasn't done much of anything in the Boxing game and a blue chip prospect like Gary Russell should only trust those who've displayed a track record in the sport.
I've always believed that management and promotion are more vital than a trainer in some respects, not all, but some. Without the right type of people behind the scenes you could be the most talented fighter in earth, but you're on a dead in end street.
I think at this point it is a smart move. As Norman said, SMS doesn't really hold any sway in the boxing world right now. Russell Jr. and his team are looking to be a hot commodity in the very near future. They work with Golden Boy on occasion so I think that if anything GBP will end up with the contract. I would like to see more competition in the boxing promotion world, but SMS has to work their way up.
50 tried to steal Mayweather from Al Haymon. The last thing 50 should've done is f*ck w/ Haymon when he got into the boxing game.
GRJR's manager is Al Haymon, so 50 Cent + Al Haymon fighter = Not happening.
50 Cent wanted him...he said no.
