Rios is a very tough fighter but a beatable one. Unlike Matthysse, Rios doesn't have that one punch power that changes the fight. Abril beat Rios by using movement. Alvarado beat Rios by using movement in a fight where Rios was winning their early engagements by landing solid shots that had Mike in trouble in spots. Mike changed up the strategy and pulled away. Therefore my assessment is as followed.
A) As ordinary a champion as Garcia is, I think that he can avoid Rios enough to make it a boring, but relatively easy points decision. Khan was beating Garcia because of his tremendous speed. He was moving in and out and Garcia could not catch him until he caught him. The roles would be reversed here, but like I said, Rios just doesn't have that one punch devastation. I think Garcia could get hit with a shot, then move sufficiently to avoid the onslaught. I give it to Garcia by close UD.
B) See above for inferred analysis. Matthyesse the kind of power that could either discourage Rios from coming in, which is typically his only game plan, or to hurt him to the extent that maybe not Rios, but his corner would certainly want to step in and stop the punishment. TKO for Matthysse.
C) Peterson would be a tough situation. Lamont could certainly out box Rios, but he tends to get sucked into wars. I don't think the Peterson has the firepower to really keep Rios off him the whole fight. I see Rios breaking Peterson down later in the fight.
D) Khan has the speed to outbox Rios easily, but Khan is not built that way. Unfortunately Khan's chin can turn any fighter into a one punch knockout artist. I see Rios losing by wide decision, or knocking Khan out. There is no way that Rios can out point Khan. I lean toward a Khan decision however. Rios is a bit too slow and linear.
