pretty sure rigondeaux got this because he said he was prepared for anything against donaire and I'm pretty sure that left hook would not be excluded. anyways nonito donaire is pretty much looking for one punch which can be really good or really bad. He does have a size advantage. its more of a 50/50 fight but I lean more towards Rigondeaux

What's up Sean G how are you bro?
This fights is a toss up. First, you got Guillermo Rigondeaux (11-0) with 8
KO's on his resume. This man had an outstanding amateur career of (400
wins and 12 losses) and he's a two time Olympic Gold Medalist and he is
the current WBA Super Bantamweight Champion. I still think he should of
taken a tune up fight before this major fight he was originally scheduled to
fight Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym of Thailand on the Donaire-Arce card on
HBO this past December however, Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym failed his
blood test and that bout was ultimately canceled that isn't Rigondeaux fault
the venue where they are fighting Radio City Music Hall at that same arena
where Roy Jones Jr. fought when he was the Light Heavyweight Champion
in his prime. Well Guillermo Rigondeaux is a dangerous puncher and also,
does have the ability to pull the a major upset, just like Glen Johnson KO'd
Roy Jones Jr. past his prime however, I watched Guillermo Rigondeaux last
fight fight Roberto Marroquin he actually hurt Guillermo Rigondeaux in rounds
3 and 9 what's going to happen when Nonito "Flash" Donaire tags him with a
punch like that? The same kind of punch he KO'd Fernando Montiel with back
in 2011? It will be LIGHTS OUT! That remains to be seen though. I am entitled
to my opinion and I'm leaning slightly towards Nonito "Flash" Donaire and if he
somehow pulls it off and and wins this fight he's on track to be the next Manny
"Pacman" Pacquiao. Nonito "Flash" Donaire via a 12 Round Majority Decision.
In less than 24 hours Donaire will win via stoppage. Rigondeaux will be pressured and will slow down in the middle rounds. Rigondeaux will have his moments in the counter punching department but ultimately the bigger guy will wear and tear him down. Eventually when a left hook lands on Rigo's chin it's just a matter of time when the referee sees enough of a Donaire onslaught. Look for the TKO between the 6th and 9th round.
There really truly is something to be said for experience. Not just the experience of learning from mistakes or getting used to more styles of opponents but one big thing people underestimate is the experience of the big stage. I have yet to know a fighter who is confident he belongs on the big stage his first time out. That doubt can effect the whole training camp, mentally they are just not ready, rarely do they want the fights and are usually pushed into the fight for a nice payday, but often times as we seen with Vargas and Bojado in recent history they were damaged by stepping up to early. When you stepping up to the big stage for the first time you dont want it to be one of the top fighters in the world in their prime. There is a big difference between alot of amateur fight experience and pro fight experience.
Rigondeaux is exactly where he should be in his career, fighting guys that pose little threat, match up well to his style and present a learning curve. For instance if I am to get a fighter exposed to a southpaw, im not going to pick out a big punching fast southpaw. I will choose a southpaw with some wear and tear on him, medium power but lacking in speed and reflexes, maybe a guy who has some ring rust is on the later half of 30, or if I'm preparing him for a counter puncher ill put him in with a counter puncher who has limited energy and stamina and power so that if a few rounds get away from us we can take him out late.
The boxing game is a chess game, its a battle field its an sculpting art form, you mold your fighter into a champion by building his confidence and exposing him to an array of styles and conditions. Ive seen fighters in the gym with as much technical skill or more then current world champions, however possessing that skill and being able to use it when you have a jab in your face under the bright lights and screaming fans are two different things.
I think the stage is to big yet for Rigondeaux and would hate to see a fighter of his caliber and potential be ruined because he was put in to early to make a pay day. If a fighter gets man handled it is very hard to build his confidence back up.
I do not think Rigondeaux is ready mentally and lacks the experience to face a fighter of Donaires caliber. He has the skill and athletic ability to compete but it takes more then that on the big stage.
Donaire is smart enough to know you dont let an inexperienced guy get any confidence, if it happens look for Donaire to feel him out very quickly and jump on him quick. Hes bigger, stronger, and actually younger then Rigondeaux although age may not matter seeing as how Donaire is probably older in his body then is Rigondeaux. Rigondeux might be slightly faster, maybe not we will have to see.
What Rigondeaux does have going for him is the fact he is a southpaw and Donaire usually appears more cautious with southpaws and has a hard time landing his jab which does not allow him to set a rhythm. IF IF IF Rigondeuax is not mentally overwhelmed by the big occasion and IF Donaire allows him to get comfortable he could possibly score a knockout. In my experience sometimes the stars align just right, everything comes together, the top dog is maybe over confident and the underdog pulls the upset. Like I said Rigondeaux has all the tools, an amateur pedigree, hes fast, hits hard and is a southpaw so you never know maybe im jaded in my opinion and Rigondeaux can live up to the occasion but if your a betting man put your money on Donaire by early round knockout.
Nonito Donaire Ko 5
I got Donaire. I know this is kind of an outrageous statement but I don't give rigondeaux much a shot. Donaire is just naturally big and that left of his is vicious.
Rigondeaux is talented but donaire is just bigger and explosive. UD for donaire
The question that seems to have split this boxing forum right down the middle......!
I am going with Rigondaux... I think his speed and skill, and especially his counter punching will be too much for the great Donaire...
My fellow contributors, are correctly pointing out that Rigo has a very limited professional record. This is true, and has to be considered. Yet the same guy won all but a handful of amateur fights (Approx 400!!)
Donaire is the real deal - There can be no disputing his credentials.. (I haven't one negative thing to say against him.....)
But the feeling in my bones is Rigo has this fight nailed!
All boxing fans must agree - This is a fight to be savoured!
Eddie is right. This one has us split. I have to go with Donaire here. Though anything can happen, and Rigo is highly skilled and talented, he has shown a fragile chin. He can out slick and outbox Donaire for the whole fight, but if one of Flash's left hooks lands flush, I don't think that Rigo will be able to hold his way out of trouble like he did against his other opponents.
I would love to give Rigondeaux the nod but Donaire is not to be beaten
I AM TAKING RIGONDEAUX IN THIS ON TO WIN BY KNOCK OUT IN THE 5TH ROUND. tHIS IS GOING TO BE ONE HELL OF A FIGHT. I LIKE BOTH FIGHTERS rIG HAS HAD OVER 400 AMATEURS FIGHTS WINNING TWO GOLD MEDALES A COUPLE OF AMATEUR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. I know these are not pro fights but at the level he has lived in over the last years he has always been number one. Let not for get he is a south paw from Cuba . This man left his country and family for this moment he will not be denied . Donaire has never been hit like he is going to get hit tomorrow night. I am not taking anything away from Donaire he is a really good fighter but this guy he is fighting tomorrow is not smiling , not talking he is all business and he is going to be all business on Donaire A$$ tomorrow night. I am betting on this fight I am so excited I can't stand it. Donaire is going to be in the fight of his life for his life against this guy .Remember this Evander Holyfield ,Roy Jones Jr, and Andre Ward had very few fights before they took over the sport Rig is the same type of fighter. The three fighters I just mention all won Gold at the Olympics well we know what happen to Evander and Jones two of the worse robberies in boxing history.
Who ya got?
donaire is just too much power that guy is a natural 130 pounder fighting at the 122 division.
I got donaire by UD or SD.
Rigo..winner by tko. There will be a ref stoppage in the later rounds.
I have a bet with kiz so im rooting for Rigo....Rigo all the way..............................
I think its a good fight, both fighter is capable of knocking each other....Im excited....
