no...he can land the ocassional power shots but the power is due to speed...he doesnt have natural power like tyson or naz or foreman where even slow short punches lead to ko's......he fighting style is also strange...he keeps that left shoulder forward for defence...he punches while keeping his body away from opponents and uses psycology to win....
if anything its his skills that are overrated...take away his fitness and mind power over opponents and theres not much left....he is not that skilled he just works very hard to keep in perfect shape and is always 100 percent prepared....corrales,zab,moseley and even hoya are all better boxers in terms of skill although hoya is another who relies on fitness a lot...like calzaghe.
Yes because people act like Floyd's punches don't hurt. They apparently hurt enough to keep his opponents back. He hurt Victor Ortiz as early as the 4th round, he nearly finished Cotto in the 12th, he hurt Victor Ortiz at the start of the 4th, he hurt Robert Guerrero as well. Mayweather is just simply a pure boxer he doesn't take many risks because he doesn't have to. Yet he still has more than 50% of his wins by knock out.
Its underrated why? floyd rarely wants to engaged, that is the reason why...There are times when his opponents are ready to go but he doesnt really want to take a risk...Thats why boxing fans cant appreciate his punching power...
Probably. Everybody talks like he has no power on anything but the fact of the matter is, his punches keep opponents back and make them very cautious. He obviously hits hard enough to make guys think twice.
Yes, all that inside work when the fighters are in close pushing off to make space and landing shots takes a lot of physical strength
no...cuz everybody knows he only got speed and stamina that utilizes his skills...he barely TKO or retires anybody cuz he cant...his' hand is already damaged and brittle...he aint got KO power no more...
against a type of fighter like pacquiao, all he got is nothing but his brilliant defense...w/c by the way was never tested against the pressure coming from a fighter like pac. his only hope is a 1punch KO like that of marquez...but w/ his brittle hands, it's unattainable even if he hires heredia
