Boxing: If Floyd fought and defeated Martinez and Golovkin?

...would that be enough or would people start saying he needs to fight Ward?

I know you're a hardcore Floyd b***kisser,. Sean. But damn, you can't beat David and Cali.

To answer your question though, Martinez ain't enough to me. I still want him to fight Pacquiao. Floyd doesn't need to fight Ward and Golovkin due to enormous weight differences. He has 4 remaining fights so I might suggest Martinez & Pacquiao. He can pick anyone he wants after beating the 2.

People would say that he needs to fight Ward. Mayweather will not get the credit he deserves until he is long retired. People just refuse to believe that he is as good as he is. So when he easily beats his opponents so easily it means he doesn't fight against opponents that are a threat. Canelo for example is no joke. He may have lost his confidence now but Canelo is a very young and talented fighter. He could work on his footwork and conditioning more but he is very skilled for his age. He fought very well, it's just Mayweather fought better. He is not a careless brawler, that is why he did not press the attack the entire time like a Victor Ortiz did. He's a thinker.

Anyway. Floyd is the best, maybe the best ever and if people refuse to believe that then that's on them. There is no need to keep proving himself against this guy or that guy like one single opponent defines him. It doesn't work that way.

Hey man I'm one of the ones who started agitating for Floyd to fight Golovkin! And I wouldnt thinki any less of him if he stopped at middleweight. Welterweights fighting middle weights is nothing new in boxing. Many of the greatest moved permanently to middleweight. I think Floyd should fight Pacquiao, then move on to middleweight as he is a very gifted boxer who has not yet found his limit.

He would retire then anyway. He should not fight ward as I think Golovkin is probably a superior boxer to Ward, and more of a threat to Floyd.

that's silly talk.ward's too big.

i think golovkin and kahn are the only men that can really add anything of significance to mayweather's legacy.fighting any other will just be a repeat of what we already know.

kahn has the tool's athleticism to trouble him.mayweather has never faced such a fighter.

although ggg lacks a little speed that would usually be needed for floyd,i think his pressure/power would make up for it. though i'm not sure ggg would carry his power to 154lbs.if he didn't floyd beats him in a fairly close fight, but if he did then i think he destroy's mayweather.

at 160 i would be suprised if mayweather could cope with golovkin.you may be right in thinking mayweather could go to 160 and beat martinez but not when one of the divisions most effective power punchers in history is up there

so a win over ggg at 160 would be special and a win over kahn would be very credible indeed.

i wanna know what you think.any thoughts?

Leonard and Robinson fought at light heavyweight, but then again they did not start their careers at featherweight like Floyd.

Floyd doesn't need to keep going up but it will better cement his legacy. Being champion at middleweight is better then not being champion at middleweight.

Still, he can't make the 154lbs, he's 2 small for middleweight [unless he uses another catchweight].

People will always criticize Floyd for not fighting Casamayor at superfeatherweight.

People will always criticize Floyd for not fighting Tszyu at 140lbs.

People will always criticize Floyd for not fighting Pacman at 147lbs.

Regardless of what he does, his history can not be erased.

That also goes for Pacman and any other fighter.

People just want to see him lose. Regardless of he beats them both, people will always bring up pac and the situation in 2009. He'd beat Pac easily now but 2009 I'm not sure. But people still want them to fight. So until he schools pac people won't give him credit. Even then they'll come up with something stupid like "he runs".
