YES, GGG can survive that power punch he has a very durable iron
chin to survive that punch. Not to take anything away from Curtis he
was considered to be a top Middleweight prospect at a time he fought
Andre Dirrell on HBO's B.A.D. back in 2007 and almost defeated "The
Matrix" on that occasion gave him a lot of trouble that night. Gennady's
on a whole other level though, he's at the top of his game, at the top of
the food chain right now everybody is avoiding him at Middleweight, you
can even look up the boxing article when they asked Lou DiBella if they
would want to make Martinez-Golovkin sometime in the future and they
responded, "there's no way we are going to put him in the ring what that
f*n animal." And that's saying something. Right now HBO is shopping for
an opponent and Curtis Stevens would definitely be "tailor made" for GGG
he's with Main Events I believe so, they could promote this bout sometime
in the future, he won't fall through like Gabriel Rosado, I think he will give it
everything he has being this first title opportunity however, I think Golovkin's
too powerful and stops him via late 10 Round KO that's just my own opinion.
Yes ,i think Golovkin can survive that with no problem.
The first mistake Saul Roman made was not establishing a jab early being the taller fighter ,the jab was absent and Roman was trying to mix it up with a puncher ,that's a big mistake.
Regardless of Curtis Stevens moving down to 160 ,Gennady Golovkin is still the naturally bigger guy and bigger puncher but if Golovkin or any other top middleweight gets caught with that clean counter left hook from Curtis Stevens ,it could be lights out ,but at the same time ,the top middleweighs didn't get where they are by making such technical errors that Saul Roman made.
Man, that KO was SICK.
It's cool too, b/c I told my brother to bet money on Stevens by KO. He was like "are you sure?"...and then I hesitated since his money was on my call. That only lasted like two seconds though, and I said punch it in.
I had money on it too, but telling someone to do it is different.
Anyway, I like Curtis Stevens, I remember back in the day when he was fighting on Broadway Boxing and his manager was Dame Dash lol.
He fell off the map after losing to Jesse Brinkley, which was a few years ago. I couldn't even really remember his name, I was just always like what happened to that black dude from Broadway Boxing who hit super hard and had Brownsville tattooed on his back?
Then BOOM, he's w/ Main Events and wrecking people all of a sudden. It's good to see him back and he looks like a new fighter at 160lb.
GGG should deal pretty easily w/ him though, at least IMO. I think that Golovkin still gets hit too much, but I also feel like Stevens doesn't really bring much to the table that Golovkin hasn't seen before.
Stevens will fight Golovkin next b/c he's the only one good enough and actually willing to do it. HBO approves of him, so it should happen.
I like Golovkin by stoppage, but he better watch for the hook. Stevens reminds me a lot of Kendall Holt. Ridiculous power, especially w/ his hook, and he just has good skills in general. I also think he's less of a choke artist than Holt is, although he did lose to Brinkley....
Can't wait to see this fight.
This guy lost to Jessie Brinkley, who is hardly an elite fighter. He was stopped by Marcos Primera who has lost 27 times, and since his win over Stevens in 2006 hes lost 12 fights.
Stevens isnt even world class and would get blown out by golovkin.
Ok he knocked out a welterweight how impressive. Golovkin KOs middleweights, Stevens power won't mean anything against Golovkin. Especially since the height and reach advantage is so diverse. He won't KO Genady. And Stevens hasn't faced tough opponents. He's beaten a bunch of bums and got KO when he tried to fight at supper middleweight.
Problem for Stevens when he fight Golovkin is that equally powerful punches will be coming back at him.
watched this the ova day and i was taken back by this mans power.if golovkin takes the fight he needs to careful of that.
i think ggg ko's him though.stevens seems to be limited in the skills department and i think a cautious ggg would expose that
stevens certainly has power but jeff lacey looked a beast before calazghe got him.
Come on dude, let's be honest: as good as Golovkin is and if he was black, you would worship him by now. Your bias and prejudice is annoying.
