If a highschool Basketball player was as good as Kobe, he can or should also turn pro asap.
You can literally have 1 amateur fight and turn pro if you wanted too. Having an amateur background is not a requirement to be pro. And there's not a certain limit of fights you need either to be pro.
There have been world champions who did not have an amateur career, and Olympic champions with over 200 amateur fights.
