All great fights with violence, all high level.
Ali Frazier 3
in their third meeting both men were past their best.still they both fought to their strengths and there was still a great level of skill there.only Frazier intended to make a war of it (as that was his style). if Ali had been able to stay away and score his way to a victory then that's what he would of done.he tried but Fraziers pressure forced them into a brutal war that saw them both pushed to the brink...and then some.
the reason this match turned out to be such a violent affair was down to how closely matched they were.they just seemed to meet at the right time.i think the temperature in the stadium only added to the brutality.
another that comes to mind is Arguello vs Pryor I and II
caution was not thrown to the wind but it may as well have been.both fights were wars
Gennady golovkin vs gabriel rosado
Erik morales vs marco antonio barrera 1-3
Manny pacquiao vs Juan manuel marquez 1-4
Morales vs Barrera 1
Corrales vs Castillo - pure punishment
Hearns hagler- brutal pace and action
As an example (and no offense), Gatti vs Ward I was a ridiculously violent fight. They just went balls to the wall, but it wasn't high level.
Izzy Vazquez-Rafa Marquez I, II, and III were BOTH though. Not only were the fights extremely violent and brutal, but both guys were fighting on the highest of levels and throwing with perfect technique and leverage.
I hope I explained that right.
So, what are the best fights like this?
