Sam Langord
Joe Jeannette
Tommy Burns
Jimmy Bivins
I'm gonna have to go old school on you as well, but I do agree with a couple of your choices, my list of the top five short heavyweights reads like this:
1. Rocky Marciano
2. Bob Fitzsimmons
3. Joe Frazier
4. Sam Langford
5. Mike Tyson
Easily, the top 3 are:
1. Marciano
2. Frazier
3. Tyson
Honorable mention goes to Sam Langford and David Tua.
tyson...rocky m...frazier.....not many under 6ft around....people always expect most old school fighters to beat contemporary ones and that may be mostly true but nutrition and training regimes etc and general fighter care are better now hence the long careers.
D*mn, Blog mentioned Fitzsimmons before I could get it out.
You pretty much nailed it.
Here's my list.
1. Mike Tyson
2. Joe Frazier
3. Rocky Marciano
4. Ruslan Chagaev
5. Orlin Norris
The top 3 are miles ahead of Chagaev and Norris but couldn't think of any better in recent years. Chagaev held the WBA title for a while whilst Norris was always there or there about. He won the NABF Heavyweight title and should've really won the IBC Title against Brian Nielsen. He never really had the success at Heavyweight as at Cruiser hough.
Guess some guys would've put Frazier above Tyson which is fair enough. I know Marciano was undefeated but he never really fought the quality opposition that Tyson and Frazier fought. + He only weighed around 185 lbs so probably would've struggled fighting in another era.
