Boxing is no exception and there are several very deserving boxers that are outside rather than inside this hall.
The LPGA uses only performance to determine its members, so reporters do not vote to decide who gets in which is my biggest complaint about the baseball hall.
Barry McGuigan was boxing during the height of the Northern Ireland troubles, he always wore a white dove on his shorts as a sign of peace.. He never played any national anthems at his fights, choosing instead to play 'Danny Boy'.
Unless you are familiar with the 'troubles', you really are unaware of the difficulties that McGuigan had to endure to be successful in boxing - There was as much fighting outside the ring, than there was in it..
Don't forget, McGuigan had to take the title from Pedroza, a legend and long serving champion.
Like Billboxing says - If the fictional character Rocky Balboa's creator can get into the hall... Then why shouldn't Barry??
No he isn't cut for that award. Contemporary Brian Mitchells is more deserving.
Listen........................If they induct Sylvester Stallone............DUH !, then Barry McGuigan certainly belongs there
McGuigan was decent. He was inducted in 2005. I can think of men more hall of fame worthy. He had 2 titles defenses in 1 year. How can that make you a hall of famer. Then going by that Ray Mancini with 4 title defenses in 2 years should be in. Also a good story with Ray is the relationship with his father.
