He was untouchable from 160lb-168lb, then he fell off at light-heavy (though that's where he reigned longest).
Probably would have been a great fighter pitting one of the greatest middleweight Champs of all time in Hagler against a muti division Champion in Jones Jr. who has the agility and great reflexes along with amazing speed and elusiveness. Hagler has an iron chin and is a fierce boxer/fighter that fights equally well at southpaw or right handed. I can see Hagler being the aggressor with Jones landing some quick shots as Hagler pursues landing some vicious shots along the ropes as Jones Jr using his quickness to get out of the way before Hagler can follow up. I believe Jones Jr will begin to slow down in the latter rounds and get tagged with some great shots from Hagler. Jones Jr. would flurry but Hagler would dominate the last few rounds. Great fight between two great fighters.
Hagler W UD
Taking Roy at 160 is like taking Wilfred Benitez at 140 or Tommy Hearns at 147. They both won titles in their respective first divisions but they were not at their best.
.
While Hagler was clearly one of the most "natural" at 160, Roy was clearly at his best at 168. Hagler could have done enough to catch up with Roy at 160 and earn a decision. It's a long shot because Roy has ALL the tools and uses them well. He would exploit Hagler's flaws. He's no speed demon, while Roy's speed gives many fits.
.
At 168, Roy was near unbeatable. If they met half way or if Hagler went up to 168, Roy wins easily, although Hagler goes the distance. He's near impossible to hurt. At 160, its a closer fight with a younger Roy Jones fighting a very cautiously.
I have Roy winning a close one at 160 and clearly dominating at 168.
At middleweight i think Hagler wins via ud or late ko like Tarver because at middleweight Roy Jones was WAY too inexperienced.
Lightheavyweight is a different story but Hagler never fought there so who cares
Jones began his ascent at 168 and peaked at 175. But hey, Hagler owns the middleweight division. Nobody touches him there.
In what weight division? Hagler would never have been able to compete with RJJ in his weight division, and RJJ would have a hell of a time getting down to Hagler's.
Marvin Hagler ....marvelous.
