First, I understand what you mean by "hypothetical", because otherwise, this is a match that could never happen.
But, hypothetically speaking, I believe Roy would win this hypothetical bout.
While Floyd is probably quicker, that is most likely due to the fact that he is much lighter. The same goes for Roy and the strength aspect of this hypothetical bout. Obviously, Roy brings much more power to the table. And while I am a strong believer in "speed is power", Roy is also extremely quick.
So in the end, this hypothetical bout would probably go into the middle rounds, 6 through 8, with Mayweather landing more punches with better accuracy, but ultimately RJJ would put Floyd on the canvas.
So, Floyd would probably be winning the fight on the scorecards up to the round that Roy would ultimately win by KO/TKO between the 6th and 8th rounds.
Hypothetical why not ask how Ricardo Lopez best 105 pound champion ever who retired undefeated would do against Roy Jones Jr.?????
Jon you are not wrong because you have logic!
"Circal 1998"
Hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahaha...
floyd fought at 130 in 1998..and I don't think you could convince Roy to come down 5 divisions to fight Floyd.LOL
You don't know shrite about boxing
Edit:yes but hypothetical doent mean you put out such stupid questions..this is like saying who'd win, bernard hopkins vs george foreman
Boxing fans,
Firstly, question asked because De La Hoya fought Hopkins (2004) at the 160 lb. weight division. Both came in at catchweight of 158 pounds.
...ONE QUESTION, ...
Q 1. CIRCA 1998: who wins at a catchweight of 158?
? Floyd Mayweather jr
VS.
? Roy Jones jr
? tale of the tape:
Floyd: 5 foot 8 inches / 72 inch reach
Roy: 5 foot 11 inches / 74 inch reach
