Better than people think: underrated hand speed and accurate, good settle headmovement and crouches or bends at the waist (helps shorter fighters be harder to hit) and has good blocking technique kinda like a poor man's Winky Wright.
Needs improving: Somewhat predictable since he needs his feet to be set to punch and always coming in the same angle when closing the distance. Hes also inconsistent where he sometimes does throw good combos or just looks for one big shot.
The way a pressure fighter becomes unpredictable is to disguise his offense where his oppoenets dont know whats coming either by 1-either walk behind a jab like GGG and pivot to set up power punches 2-feint and give angles and come in-out of range to confuse his opponents as to when hes trying to close the distance like Roman Gonzalez does
I agree that people are overrating his win over Alvarado to some extent. Remember, Alvarado was also stopped by Rios and had to dig deep and rally from behind to pull off a win over Prescott. He may not stand a chance against Mayweather, but he did prove that he's one of the toughest sobs in the division. And I don't know why you believe he can't beat Bradley. Their first fight was close with Ruslan hurting Bradley several times, and I think he may perform better in the rematch. Against Alvarado, his offense looked more varied and he worked the body more. Bradley is going to try to make it a tactical fight in a rematch, but he still has the tendency to get caught up in wild exchanges when his opponent presses the issue, which Ruslan will certainly do.
I think you're right, people tend to overrate powerpunchers.
With that said; Ruslan is an A class fighter, maybe not great at least yet] but he is top notch, he almost knocked out Bradley and many thought Ruslan won.
If there's a rematch expect Ruslan to be more comfortable, Bradley to be traumatized and i would bet on Ruslan knocking Bradley out in a 12th rounder.
Mayweather can take a punch including bodyshots, i think Mayweather would do to Ruslan what he did to Baldomir.
People are definitely overrating Provodnikov. He's a one dimensional fighter that rely heavily on his power and aggression. He gave Bradley a hard fight the first time because Bradley was coming off a controversial win over Manny pacquiao. Bradley even admitted that he was going through alot in the Provodnikov fight. I guarantee that Provodnikov will not keep his title for a long time. Bradley would outclass him in the rematch and Floyd mayweather will send him to School.
Yes they are I had him losing to alvarado before mike quit.
Had it 99-89 Alvarado.
He beat a B-class fighter in Alvarado. Props to him. I thought Alvarado would give him a boxing lesson. But now all of a sudden, people are saying he can beat Bradley, and give Mayweather PROBLEMS.
Thats a bit farfetched don't you think.
