Anyone else think carl froch is very overrated?

I wouldn't go as far as to say he's the best British boxer ever. To say such a thing would be to overrate him, in my opinion, but the vast majority of boxing fans aren't saying that. However, the vast majority of boxing fans do recognize what he's accomplished. I'm one of them. In response to your statement regarding his level of competition, I don't really know who else you'd want him to fight... How has he not fought the best? He's currently got one of the best resumes in boxing. He's fought everyone there is to fight worth mentioning. You've heard about the super six tournament right? Yea, he placed second to Andre Ward in that, and then went on to absolutely CRUSH a guy who many believed to be the second best fighter in the division at the time, Lucian Bute. I always thought Bute was a little overrated, but a large amount of boxing enthusiasts whom I respect thought, and still think Bute is/was legit. If Bute is really as good as those people thought/think, then that says a lot about Froch. I just don't understand how you can begin to question Froch's competition at all.. If you don't like him or whatever, thats fine, but you can't sit there and say he's not fought anyone.

Secondly, in response to your statement about him not being unbeaten; Being unbeaten isn't always a good measuring stick for how great a fighter is, and I'll go ahead and use your example here. Carl Froch has faced far better competition than Joe Calzaghe. That's just a fact. I think you might want to go back and take a look at the credentials, and records of the guys on Carl's resume before you go knocking him. He's earned the right to be called great, and he's not really overrated in my opinion, basing that off of what a majority of boxing fans and analysts have to say about him rather than being so selective in my criticism as to only take into account the few people who like to believe he's the best ever at anything. Sounds to me like you might be digging a little deep with your reasoning just so you can call the guy overrated.

Who's to say Froch isn't a better, more motivated fighter now with a couple of reality check losses than he was when he was undefeated anyway? I think that's the case. Heart and dedication go a long way in this sport.

Carl Froch has most definitely earned his place, and his reputation. He is an elite.

Not faced the best? Are you serious? He has fought Pascal, Taylor, Dirrel, Kessler twice, Abraham, Johnson, Ward and Bute. Pretty much every elite fighter in his weight class and only Kessler and Ward beat him. Cooper was a nice guy and fought some great fighters but everytime he fought someone world class he either got KO'd or TKO'd. Froch might not be a pure boxer but he's a good fighter and only now starting to get the recognition he deserves. I think Calzaghe would have beat him though.

Joe Calzaghe is a bum and never took a hard fight in his life, he hid in the Welsh valleys with his title until Hopkins and RJJ got ancient.

Not overrated at all, just not as good as Lewis and calzaghe.

he is overrated.....

but i like Froch. you can't say he hasn't fought the best...he fought everyone.

but yeah i think he overrated. he has a very sloppy style, and takes way too many punches.

i bet you B-Hop RIGHT NOW at 48 could whoop that boy on his home turf

Nice guy but boxing is not really his natural talent...he has to work extra hard to mix it with the naturals and takes more shots in the process...not great to see.

some people are calling him the best british boxer of all time which makes me sick whats the dude even done not unbeaten like joe calzaghe has not faced the best like henry cooper whats this guy done
